DURANT, Okla. – The Cameron Aggies softball team (21-21-1, 5-6 LSC North) dropped a pair of games today at Lone Star Conference North rival Southeastern Oklahoma (32-17, 9-5 LSC North) in Durant at the Southeastern Softball Complex.
In the day’s opener, the Aggies fell 5-1 as the Storm posted runs in the first two innings of junior righthander Carrie Harvey.
Harvey worked the complete game but conceded a pair of singles and sacrifice bunts to the first four batters to plate the Storm’s first run of the day.
In the second, Southeastern again led off with two hits and plated two more runs to make it a 3-0 ball game.
Leslie Martini got the Ags on the board in the fourth with a solo homer to straight away center, her 12th of the season.
Courtne St. Clair put another run on the board for the Storm with a single roundtripper to center field in the bottom of the sixth to close out the scoring.
Harvey (14-10) fanned five batters and scattered seven hits for the game. Audra Rhudy earned the victory on seven complete innings while allowing four hits and one run and striking out six.
In the nightcap, the teams ran the score tight but the Aggies fell 2-1 with a late Southeastern run in the sixth.
Back-to-back doubles from Kelly Lentz and Drew Wright in the third led to the Aggies first and only run of the day.
The Storm added single runs in the fourth and the sixth to take the led and hold on for their second victory of the day.
Kelsy Hebert (7-8) was tagged with the loss after working all six innings. She gave up five hits and two runs on the day.
Rhudy (16-6) got the victory, her second of the day, after coming on in relief for three complete innings. She allowed just one hit and no runs in relief of starting pitcher Ashley Smith.
The two teams will square off tomorrow in the final game of the series. First pitch is slated for 1 P.M.
