Box Score LAWTON, Okla.—The Cameron Aggies women’s basketball team snapped their three game skid with a much need home win against the Eastern New Mexico Zias tonight, 55-50 at the Aggie Gym.
In the first half Cameron matched the Zias shot for shot but midway through turnovers became an issue with ENMU getting 12 points off of those compared to two for CU. Cameron from the field shot 7-23 (30.4%) and hit one from beyond the arc. Leading the way through the first half was
Lacy Reinke with six points while
Ali Brown pulled down five rebounds and had four points.
Eastern New Mexico shot 43.3% (12-30) with Jaylyn Cooper leading the Zias with 10 points.
The second half started off with two quick threes and set the pace for how the Aggies were going to play the second half. Cameron narrowed the Zias lead and remained tight with them through the remainder of the second half. Cameron made their push and with a three pointer from
Alexis Williams at about the four minute mark the Aggies took the lead and would not give it back. A three from
Brittany Harris gave the Aggies the four point lead and forced the Zias to start fouling. Cameron made nine out of ten free throw attempts down the stretch to put away Eastern New Mexico.
Cameron was 34% from field, 20% from behind the arc, and 72.7% from the free throw line. They outrebounded the Zias 29-21 and only gave up 11 turnovers on the game. The Aggies were able to battle back from a 10 point lead in the first, to have an eight point lead with 23 seconds left in the game.
Eastern New Mexico shot 40.4% from the field, 33.3% from behind the arc, and 16.1% from behind the charity stripe, going 1-6.
Alexis Williams led CU tonight with 14 points on 3-10 shooting and going 6-6 from the free throw line.
Lacy Reinke was two rebounds shy of a double-double, with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Additionally,
Hannah Pollart had eight points, five rebounds, and three blocks before fouling out of tonight’s game.
Brittany Harris had nine points, three assists, and one steal, and hit four out of her six free throws.
Cameron will pack up and head to Florida for the Palm Beach Atlantic Classic next week as they take on Lynn University on the Dec. 17 and the host school Palm Beach Atlantic on Dec. 19.
