Box Score SAN ANGELO, Texas (March 2, 2012) — The Aggies fell victim to the long ball against Angelo State Friday, falling 9-1 in their conference opener.
Cameron (8-8, 0-1) struck early as Claren Hurlbut led the game off with a single. A single by Misty Dooley and a sacrifice bunt by Sonia Foutch moved Hurlbut to third. She would end of scoring on a wild pitch, but that would be the last run CU would be able to produce.Â
The #8 ranked Angelo State Belles (15-3, 1-0) scored the majority of their runs on four-baggers, hitting a solo in the first, a three-run in the third and a two-run homerun in the fourth inning. ASU picked up insurance runs in the 2nd and 5th innings to make the game 9-1.
Amanda Karth and Misty Dooley led Cameron offensively, each picking up two hits. Cameron finished with seven hits but stranded seven runners on base.
Carrie Dilks pitched into the fifth inning allowing seven hits, 9 runs (8 earned), while striking out four batters. The loss drops her record to 3-3 on the season.
The Aggies will square off with the Belles twice tomorrow, with the first pitch coming at 1 p.m.
