Cameron Washed Out By Buffs 10-3

Box Score

LAWTON, Oklahoma (April 13, 2012) — Friday the 13th struck again, as Cameron faced two opponents on the day – the weather and West Texas A&M. The action started on time, but in the bottom of the first fell victim to a three hour rain delay. But when the sky cleared, the Buffs came out on top, 10-3.

“It was just one of those days,” said Head Coach Beth Watson. “We couldn’t really get it going in any aspects of the game. It’s the time of year (heading into the final games) when you need to be rolling”

Kelsy Hebert (4-8) took the circle for the Aggies (15-27, 6-15) but struggled in the early innings, eventually getting the hook in the fourth inning. Hebert went three innings, allowing six hits and six runs. Cheyenne Brown allowed seven hits and four runs in four innings of work.

Both Hebert and Brown fell victim to the long ball, as the Buffs (28-15, 12-9) scored eight of their 10 runs on four homeruns.

Offensively, CU failed to make solid contact of WT’s pitching; scoring only three runs on seven hits in the game. The Aggies scored one run in 2nd, 4th and 6th innings, with Drew Wright and Misty Dooley each picking up RBIs.

The teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader Friday and conclude with a single game on Saturday, but the weather changed that plan. Instead, the teams will wrap-up the series tomorrow with a doubleheader. The first pitch at Cameron Field is scheduled for 11 a.m.

“We need to split tomorrow, we need to,” Watson said. “We also have to come out focused and expect to be there at the end of seven innings.”
