Box Score LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron University Women’s Basketball team lost to Midwestern State 65-52, tonight at the Aggie Gym.
After 20 of minutes of action, the Aggies shot 38.5 percent (10-26) from the field and 27.3 percent (3-11) from three-point land. On the other side of the court, MSU shot 41.4 percent (12-29) and 28.6 percent (2-7) from downtown.
The Aggies hung tough with MSU up till the three minute mark when it was 25-24, then the Mustangs went on a 9-0 run to end the half 34-24.
CU battled in the second half but could not seem to break through MSU’s lead. CU shot 50% in the second half; hitting 3-6 from three and 7-10 from the free throw line. Turnovers and points off turnovers plagued the Aggies in the long run, tuning the ball over 13 times and giving the Mustangs 15 points of them. To end out the game, the Aggies were able to keep MSU at 65 points for the last three minutes. The final score was 65-52.
Chelsea Stamp, who hit 3-8 shots from behind the arc, had 13 points in the game. Stamp is leading the team in scoring this year and this effort will only add to that. Hannah Pollart had a solid game for CU, scoring eight points and grabbing six rebounds. Sharna Hoosier also had six boards for the Aggies making this the second game in a row she has had the team game high in boards.

The points were spread around tonight with Lacy Reinke, Ali Brown, and Sasha Carter all having six points. This was Carter’s first game action as an Aggie and she was 1-1 from the field and 4-6 from the free throw line.
Cameron shot 43.3% from the field, with a three point percentage of 35.3% and free throw percentage of 57.1%. Cameron had 30 rebounds, compared to MSU’s 30, and scored 22 points in the paint. The Aggie bench was a major scoring factor, accounting for half of CU’s total points.
Midwestern State shot 42.4% off of 59 shots, with a 27.3% three point percentage and 75% from the charity stripe. They were ahead of the Aggies in rebounds, points in the paint, points off turnovers, and second chance points.
This loss puts the Aggies at 4-11 overall and 3-6 in Lone Star Conference play. Midwestern State is now 12-3 overall this season with a LSC record of 7-2, and remaining at the top spot of the LSC standings.
The Aggies will look for redemption on Saturday as they head down to Wichita Falls to take on the Mustangs again. The game will start at 4 p.m. and will be broadcast with live audio on cameronaggies.com.
