Aggies drop match with TWU, 3-0

Box Score
DENTON, Texas – Kelle Carver and Kat Evans both recorded double figure kills, but the Cameron University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Texas Woman's in Denton on Friday night.

"We got off to a really poor start and they (Texas Woman's) took advantage that," said head coach Doug Tabbert. "Up until midway through the second set we played sluggish and we controlled the first part of the third."

"However, Texas Woman's turned it up offensively at the end and we didn't have response back."

Cameron opened the match flat recording 10 errors with a .000 hitting percentage.  While the Pioneers pounded out a .400 hitting percentage with 14 kills, and only two errors to decisively take set one 25-14.

Texas Woman's led by nine points midway through set two before CU went on the offensive and got within four points by the 22-18 mark.  Despite the CU late run, TWU would pull away with the set two win, 25-20.

Set three started promising for the Aggies where they would hold onto an early lead over the Pioneers.  Cameron would not be able to hold off the TWU offense or defense though as they would manage a .323 hitting percentage and get five blocks to win set three, 25-18.

Carver led the Aggie offense with 11 kills and Evans had 10 on the night.  Kayla Hebert added 30 assists with Erin Hardy chipping in a match high 16 digs.  As a team, the Aggies had a .078 hitting percentage with a pair of blocks.

TWU had a .317 hitting percentage with 10 blocks.

The loss for Cameron sends them to 6-19 overall and 0-13 in the Lone Star Conference; TWU moves to 17-8 overall and 8-4 in conference play.

Cameron will return to action again on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. where they will visit Texas A&M Commerce.
