Women's Basketball off to best start since 2001

Box Score LAWTON, Okla. – Last season it took Cameron 14 tries to get win number four; this year is a different story, the Aggies are 4-0 to start the season for the first time since 2001, beating Hillsdale Free Will Baptist 93-48.

Cameron used 11 different players in their scoring attack with Jazzmine Robinson leading the way with 19 points, five rebounds, and three steals.

"This group really competes, they have competed from day one and they want to win," said head coach Tom Webb. "They are really competitive and that's a good sign too, with a good start things have kind of fallen into place."

"Now we have to go on the road and take care of business."

Hillsdale matched Cameron shot for shot early until the Aggies went on a 9-0 run midway through the half to take a 21-12 lead and never looked back. The Aggies picked the Lady Saints off seven times with Robinson scoring 14 points to lead both teams.

Hillsdale had the slight edge shooting 43.5%, while Cameron shot 41.7% from the field. The difference was CU's 22 points off turnovers compared to four from the Lady Saints.

The second half was all Cameron as they knocked down 49 second half points on the Lady Saints while shooting 50% from the field.

Ali Brown was a point short of a career high with 16, while Chelsea Stamp added 12, and Lacy Reinke chipped in 11.

"The nice thing this season is that we have different people scoring and we're pleased about where we are, but we know that we need to get better and better," said Webb.

As a group the Aggies shot 45.8% from the field with 42 rebounds, and 14 steals. Additionally, CU had 37 points off of turnovers.

"Coach (Hannah) Owen has done an amazing job with that program, she has brought Hillsdale a couple national championships," added Webb. "They really played hard and it was good for us to have to compete…I was really proud of our team for playing a lot better in the second half on both ends of the court."

Cameron will hit the road on Nov. 29-30 to play Regis and Colorado School of Mines in the Colorado School of Mines Thanksgiving Classic.
