Box Score GOLDEN, Colo. – The Cameron women's basketball team suffered the first loss of the season falling to Regis University 82-61 in Golden, Colo. on Friday evening.
Cameron (4-0) was vying for their best start in nearly 30 years but couldn't contain the Regis (1-2) attack as the game progressed. The Rangers out-rebounded Cameron 59 to 42 and put up 21 second chance points compared to CU's four.
Cameron trailed the Rangers after making the first bucket of the game and struggled to hit shots going 29% from the field. Regis didn't fare much better going 37% on the floor, they simply made four extra shots to lead 41-33 at the half. Â
Statistically both teams were about even across the board;
Chelsea Stamp led the way for CU with nine points and
Christina Caddy had seven points with six boards.
The Aggies faded early after coming out of the locker room in the second half and only made seven shots, with four of those coming from inside the arc. Regis improved their shooting to 40.5% and knocked down another 41 points.
Stamp was the lone Aggie in double-figures with 12 points, Caddy ended the night with nine points and eight rebounds, and
Jazzmine Robinson led CU with 11 boards. As a team Cameron finished the night with 27.4% shooting on the floor.
Regis' Taelor Purdy had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead both teams; the Rangers would have four other players in double figures.
Cameron will play on Saturday against Colorado School of Mines at 6 pm local time.
