Tip Off
This will be the eighth installment of the "Battle of the Aggies" with Cameron leading the series with a 5-2 record over OPSU. In the most recent matchup, CU got a 66-50 win at the Aggie Gym last season.
Lacy Reinke led the way with 15 points and seven rebounds against OPSU, while
Ali Brown chipped in 10 points of her own.
CU Returners
The Aggies have four returning seniors, one retuning junior, and one returning sophomore from the 2012-13 season.
Chelsea Stamp is back off a year where she had to step up and handle most of the scoring. She averaged 11.2 points per game and broke the Cameron season record for three pointers made with 65. CU also gets back forwards
Lacy Reinke,
Ali Brown,
Sasha Carter, and
Markita Zeigler. Reinke and Brown are both coming off seasons where they both averaged over five rebounds a game. Rounding out the returning group is senior guard
Brittany Harris, who averaged 6.3 points per game, and is the Aggies leading returner in assists and steals.
CU Newcomers
Cameron has a total of eight players who will be new faces to the Cameron faithful. This includes six transfers, a redshirt-freshman, and true freshman. They brought in three forwards in
Braylah Blakely,
DJ Vallier, and
Christina Caddy. Blakely is a 6-0 junior who spent her first two seasons playing for the Mean Green of North Texas, and averaged three boards a game in both seasons. Vallier is a 5-11 sophomore from Concordia, who averaged five points and five boards a game in 2012-13, and Caddy is a 5-10 senior from Tennessee Tech. The Aggies also added three junior guards in Jade Hearl,
Jazzmine Robinson, and
Noelle Kindred, who will all look to provide some offense at the position. Robinson averaged 13.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game, while shooting 44.3 percent from the field and 42.7 percent from behind the arc last year at Williston State. Additionally, Cameron has redshirt freshman
Lindsey Smith and true freshman
Charron Montgomery to provide some much needed depth.
Scouting Oklahoma Panhandle State
The Aggies from Oklahahoma Panhandle were ranked last in the Heartland Conference Preseason Poll after a 5-22 (1-11) record in 2012-13. They ended the season on a 10 game losing streak and in last in the Heartland standings. Their last win was against Arkansas-Ft. Smith on January 19, 2013.
OPSU finished towards the bottom of the Heartland in almost every statistical category last season. They averaged 57.9 points per game while allowing 70.3 to their opponents. The OPSU Aggies shot .330 from the field, .271 from behind the arc, and .663 from the free throw line. As a team, they averaged 32.4 boards per game, 11.7 less than their opponents, and averaged 10.1 assists per game. On the defensive end, they averaged 7.2 steals and 2.1 blocks per game, and they were third in the conference with a turnover margin of +2.7.
Panhandle gets back their second leading scorer in Sarah Johnson, who averaged 8.0 points per game, and was third on the team with 52 assists. They also get back Meagan Bell, who was 36-107 with a .336 percentage from behind the arc, and averaged 6.4 points per game. Sharice Papaleo returns after leading the team in rebounds last season with 131 total and five per game. Papaleo also led the team with 23 blocks, 0.9 per game, which was good for fifth in the Heartland.
Preseason Poll
The Cameron University women's basketball team was selected seventh with 75 points in the 2013-14 Lone Star Conference women's basketball preseason poll
Midwestern State was selected as the top choice to defend its LSC title earning 20 first place votes and 218 points.
West Texas A&M finished second with one first-place nod and 190 points to edge Tarleton State. The TexAnns were third with 188 points and three top votes.
Angelo State was picked fourth (127), Texas A&M-Commerce fifth (126 and one first-place vote), and Texas Woman's sixth (84). Cameron (75), Eastern New Mexico (69), and Texas A&M-Kingsville (48) rounded out the poll.
In addition, TSU's Kiara Wright was honored as Preseason Player of the Year. Wright was the top choice on 18 of the 25 ballots cast. MSU's Andrea Carter received four votes, while two others collected the remaining votes.

With 65 three pointers last season for the Aggies,
Chelsea Stamp became Cameron's all-time leader in trey during a season. The previous record was 62 held by Michelle Brogden during the 1996-97 season.

Sixth Man
The 2013-14 season will be
Tom Webb's sixth year at the helm of the Cameron University women's basketball program. Webb is CU's second longest tenured coach in the NCAA era since Laina McDonald who led Cameron from 1989 to 1997.
Road Woes
Cameron hasn't won on an opposing or neutral court in their last 18 opportunities dating back to January 28, 2012 at Texas A&M Commerce.
Coming Up
Following the "Battle of the Aggies," Cameron will head to Alva, Okla. to face Northwestern Oklahoma State on Nov. 16. They will then open up at home with a game against Barclay College on Nov. 19 and then Hillsdale Free Will Baptist on Nov. 25.
