Tip Off
Cameron is coming off of an impressive 101-33 win over Dallas Chrisitan, where they shot over 50% from the field and had five players with double figures in points. After being named the LSC Offensive Player of the Week,
Lacy Reinke led the Aggies with 15 points on 7-7 shooting with seven rebounds.
The Aggies will face tougher and unknown competition in Alaska at the AT&T Hoops Classic this weekend. CU has never played either of the three other teams in the tournament, and two of which are receiving votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
Scouting Alaska-Anchorage
The Seawovlves have come out with an impressive first half of the 2013-14 season, going 9-1, with their one loss coming to Division I Georgetown. UAA's defense is what has propelled them to a hot start, allowing only 63.1 points per game and forcing 27.6 turnovers per game with 16.5 steals and 3.1 blocks per game. Although they have four people averaging in double figures, their main scoring threat is Ali Madison, who averages 17.5 points per game on .383 shooting.
Scouting Brevard
Brevard, unlike the other three teams in the classic has had a rough start, going 2-5 to start the season. They average just 58.6 points per game, while giving up 68.3. They do a good job of limiting turnovers, but only two less than they force. They have two scorers in Madison Lenox and Katie Williams that average over 11 points per game. Both do a good job getting to the free throw line and converting their opportunities.
LSC Stack Up
The Aggies are third in the LSC scoring rankings with 79.4 points per game, but are second in scoring defense and scoring margin. CU is tops in the league in three pointers made and second in percentage. Additionally, the Cameron defense and rebounding has remained at the top with a first place ranking in opponents field goal percentage, blocks per game, and rebounds per game.
Individually,
Jazzmine Robinson is 11th in the LSC with 11.3 points a game, and is one spot behind teammate
Christina Caddy in rebounds per game with Caddy in fifth and Robinson in sixth. Caddy is also third in free throw percentage.
Chelsea Stamp and
Jade Herl are one and two in three pointers made, and two and three in three point percentage.
Brittany Harris is third in assists per game with 4.4 and freshman
Charron Montgomery is first in assist/turnover ratio, while
Lacy Reinke has the top spot in blocks with nine this season with
Ali Brown in a close second with six.
Preseason Poll
The Cameron University women's basketball team was selected seventh with 75 points in the 2013-14 Lone Star Conference women's basketball preseason poll
Midwestern State was selected as the top choice to defend its LSC title earning 20 first place votes and 218 points.
West Texas A&M finished second with one first-place nod and 190 points to edge Tarleton State. The TexAnns were third with 188 points and three top votes.
Angelo State was picked fourth (127), Texas A&M-Commerce fifth (126 and one first-place vote), and Texas Woman's sixth (84). Cameron (75), Eastern New Mexico (69), and Texas A&M-Kingsville (48) rounded out the poll.
In addition, TSU's Kiara Wright was honored as Preseason Player of the Year. Wright was the top choice on 18 of the 25 ballots cast. MSU's Andrea Carter received four votes, while two others collected the remaining votes.

With 65 three pointers last season for the Aggies,
Chelsea Stamp became Cameron's all-time leader in trey during a season. The previous record was 62 held by Michelle Brogden during the 1996-97 season.

Sixth Man
The 2013-14 season will be
Tom Webb's sixth year at the helm of the Cameron University women's basketball program. Webb is CU's second longest tenured coach in the NCAA era since Laina McDonald who led Cameron from 1989 to 1997.
Coming Up
With the trip to Alaska being the last contest for the Aggie women in 2013, Cameron will return to action when the make the trip to Denton, Texas to play in an exhibition against Division I North Texas on Jan. 4. After that, the Aggies will kick off their Lone Star Conference season with a trip to Portales to face Eastern New Mexico on Jan. 8.
