Cameron women storm past Brevard

Box Score ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Cameron will close out 2013 with a 76-55 win over Brevard in the consolidation game of the AT&T Hoops Classic at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.

The Aggies (8-2) controlled the majority of the game and got major offensive production from their two outside shooters, Chelsea Stamp and Jade Herl who combined for nine three pointers.

"It was exactly what needed tonight," said head coach Tom Webb. "We are coming home with a split but we played two really good teams and played extremely tough in both of them."

"I had some concern today after playing so hard yesterday against Anchorage that we might come out sluggish, but we came out really solid tonight."

After trading buckets early the Aggies controlled the game after the first 10 minutes with a 13-0 run coming solely from Stamp to lead 39-26 at the half.

Cameron kept the Tornados at least 10 back for the majority of the half and the closest they would get is nine points en route to the win.

For the second night in a row Herl came away with double digit scoring with 14 points, Jazzmine Robinson and Christina Caddy both scored ten each; Caddy led CU with seven boards.

Brittany Harris dished out seven assists and added four steals.

Cameron tied their season mark with 51% shooting from the field and out-rebounded the Tornados 39 to 26.

"I'm really proud of this group because they are playing as a team and it doesn't take only one or two players to win games," added Webb.

"This trip did a lot for us a group we traveled halfway across the country and it helped us prepare for conference season but most importantly we grew together as a team."

Cameron will be off until Jan. 4 when they travel to North Texas for an exhibition game to start the New Year.
