Cameron tacked on their first run of the game in the top of the third playing small ball. Claren Hurlbut got a bunt single to start the inning; Spencer Ferrell would then drop down a sacrifice bunt to move Hurlbut to second. Later in the inning, Tara Martini doubled off of a 1-2 count to left field and brought Hurlbut home to make it a 3-1 game.
The Mustangs responded back in the bottom frame with two singles and a walk to start the inning. However, Cameron would limit the damage allowing only one run to cross home. MSU would extend their lead through to 4-1 after three innings.
In the top of the fourth, Cameron missed an opportunity for a big inning after Micah Foutch hit an RBI single to put runners at second and third with one out. The Aggies would strand the runners and trail MSU 4-2.
Both teams would put up a run, before MSU added a pair in the bottom of the sixth. Midwestern would start the inning with a lead off homer and double before Kelsy Hebert would relieve Betts out of the bullpen. The runner at second would later score to give MSU a 6-3 lead after six innings.
In the top half of the seventh, Misty Dooley reached on a throwing error and ended up at second with one out. Tara Martini would nail down her second double of the game to score Dooley. Leslie Martini followed up with a first pitch single to center field to bring Tara home. With the tying run on the Aggies would pop up and strike out to end the game with a 6-5 loss.
Hebert would go 1.2 innings out of the bullpen and gave up three runs while walking three Mustang batters.
Cameron will travel to Canyon, Texas for a three game series at West Texas A&M starting on Friday, April 19.
