Box Score CANYON, Texas – Leslie Martini hit her 40th career home run in a Cameron uniform but the Aggies would fall 14-2 in five innings to #5 West Texas A&M on Friday night.
The loss for Cameron is their fifth in a row and drops them to 13-27 overall and 6-14 in the Lone Star Conference.Â
Spencer Ferrell gave CU a pair of hits and Leslie Martini had a homer and a pair of RBI.Â
West Texas A&M (37-7, 16-5 LSC) had four players with multi-hit evenings and five with multiple RBI on CU pitching.Â
The Lady Buffs jumped out of the gates quickly scoring 11 runs before Cameron responded back in top of the fourth. Misty Dooley started the inning with a single to right field, and Martini blasted a 3-1 count homer over the center field fence to make it an 11-2 game.
West Texas A&M wasn’t done offensively though and scored the last three runs off of five hits in the bottom half of the inning to give them a 14-2 win over Cameron.Â
Samantha Betts (9-13) took the loss for the Aggies going 2.0 innings; she would get tagged with six runs off of seven hits. Kelsy Hebert came in for Betts and tossed the final two innings, giving up eight runs on 10 hits.
Cameron will play two more against West Texas A&M on Saturday, April 20 starting at 1 p.m.
