Aggies close out regular season with a sweep

Cameron beats Eastern New Mexico, 11-3

LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron University sent off their four seniors and field a winner after completing the three game sweep of Eastern New Mexico, 11-3 at Cameron Field.

Prior to the game the softball program celebrated the careers of, Claren Hurlbut, Micah Foutch, Leah Trousdale, and Leslie Martini. The game was also the end of an era for Cameron Field, the Aggie softball program will move next door to the McMahon Field and Athletics Center starting this summer.

Cameron (17-30, 10-17 LSC) used a team approach at the plate with every Aggie batter getting at least one hit. Leslie Martini, CU's all time home run leader added to her total with a two run blast in the first inning. Martini now has 43 career homers in an Aggie uniform.

The Aggies tagged the Zia pitching staff for nine runs in the first two innings before adding two more in the fourth to control the game from start to finish.

Sonora Zukerman had another perfect day at the plate with a single, triple, and a RBI. In the series against the Zias she hit .857 at the plate with six hits, a double, triple, two homers, and seven RBI. Additionally, Zukerman's slugging percentage sat at a robust 2.143.

Samantha Betts (13-14) didn't start the final game of the series; she would step in for Kelsy Hebert in the third and earned her third win of the weekend going the final three innings while punching out three ENMU hitters.

The Aggies will either play West Texas A&M or Texas Woman's on Friday, May 3 at 7 p.m. in the first round of the Lone Star Conference Tournament in Canyon, Texas.
