LAWTON – The Cameron women's basketball team will look to bounce back after a slow start to the season as they head to face Fort Hays State, who has started out the season 2-1. The Tigers were picked fourth in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll after going 21-8 last season and will be a tough match up for the Aggies.

They also lost to the University of Kansas, 73-52 in an exhibition game. The Tigers are coming in to the match up with CU on a positive note, as they defeated McPherson on Tuesday, 120-39. As a team, they are shooting 43 percent from the field, 36.5 percent from behind the arc, and 69 percent from the free throw line. They own a +11 rebounding margin and a +9.7 turnover margin over their oppenents. On defense, they have held their opponents to just 58 points per contest, with Fort Hays averaging 11.3 steals and 2.7 blocks per contest. Kate Lehman leads the team with 21 points per game, after a 30 point outing against McPhereson. Behind her is Jill Faxon, who is averaging 14.3 points, and Beth Bohuslavsky, who is averaging 10.7 points. Lehman also leads the team with nine rebounds and 1.7 blocks per contest, while Bohuslavsky leads the team with 4.3 assists and Nikola Kacperska leads the team with 1.7 steals per game.
Aggies drop two: Cameron fell in both of their opening weekend games, first on Friday, Nov.14, against Arkansas-Fort Smith, 78-51, and then on Saturday, Nov. 15, to Harding, 115-84. So far this season,
Brandi Leal is leading the team with 13.5 points, after an 18 point outing against Harding with four three pointers. Additionally,
Jazzmine Robinson is averaging 12 points a game and
Jade Herl is averaging 11 points a game. Robinson also leads the team with 8.5 rebounds per contest with
DJ Vallier adding in 6.5 boards per game. Both
Charron Montgomery and
Cristina Soriano average three assists per game while Montgomery leads the team with five steals and
Markita Zeigler has three blocks to lead the team.
On the horizon: Cameron has a quick turn around after Saturday's game, as they will be back on the road on Tuesday, Nov. 25 and will head to Ada to face the East Central Tigers.
