Box Score WICHITA FALLS, Texas –
Sonora Zukerman powered the Aggies with six RBI and a pair of homers as Cameron defeated Northeastern State 10-6 in Wichita Falls on Sunday.
The win for Cameron (8-3) is their seventh in a row the first time in two years that program is five games above a .500 win percentage and Zukerman's six RBI afternoon is the highest in since
Leslie Martini had a six RBI game this time a year ago.
Over the weekend Cameron hitters collected 55 hits and scored 42 runs on opposing pitching. Both Zukerman and
Tara Martini combined for 5 homers, 19 hits (.514 average), and 21 RBI in the last five games at Wichita Falls.
Cameron opened the game with a one out grand slam from Zukerman and
Breezy McComas followed up with a solo blast over the right field wall to give them a 5-0 lead.
Northeastern State wasn't shaken though and collected a pair of runs off of four hits in the bottom of the first and they would score four more runs in the second to take a 6-5 lead over Cameron.
The Riverhawks charge would be short-lived as Zukerman gave CU a boost in the third with her second homer of the day to score a pair and retake the lead 7-5.
Cameron added an insurance run in the fourth off of a Riverhawk error and two more runs in the sixth inning off a ground ball and a
Tara Martini single to give the Aggies a 10-6 lead.Â
Aggie run support gave
Kelsey Watson (3-2) a boost out of the bullpen with seven punch outs and no earned runs given up for her third win of the weekend; she came in for
Betsy Woodall in the second inning who tossed the opening frame for the Aggies.
Macy McKay and Martini both went 2 for 3 with a pair of RBI scored.
Cameron will return to action on Friday and Saturday for doubleheaders against Newman and Texas A&M International in Canyon, Texas.
