Tip Off

The Aggies last two wins have them right in the middle of the playoff picture, in a three way tie for eighth in the Lone Star Conference Standings. A win against Midwestern State this Saturday would guarantee them a spot in the postseason.

Cameron will be honoring their five women's basketball seniors, Ali Brown, Christina Caddy, Brittany Harris, Lacy Reink, and Chelsea Stamp, as it is their last time to play in the Aggie Gym. This will be Brown and Reinke's 106th straight game played in their four years at Cameron.

Last Time Out for CU
Cameron won their second straight game, beating Angelo State 63-59 last Saturday. The Aggies used a 19 point, eight rebound, four steal game from Jazzmine Robinson to propel them to the win. CU shot 42% from the field, 47% from the three point line, and a season high 91% from the free throw line. They slightly won the rebounding battle 39-38, but turned the ball over 17 times that led to 12 points for the Rambelles. However, the Aggies capitalized on ASU's 14 giveaways, scoring 21 points off turnovers. Chelsea Stamp added 11 points for CU and extended her single season three point record to 71 with three shots from behind the arc. For Angelo State, Karli Kellermeier had a 19 point, 10 rebound double double.

Against Midwestern State
In the long rivalry between the Mustangs and the Aggies, it is MSU who owns the overall series lead, 39-24. Cameron has not beat their Red River rivals since December 13, 2010.

Last Time Against MSU
When the two teams matched up in Wichita falls on Feb. 1, it was Midwestern State who won the close 70-69 game over the Aggies. After being down most of the game, a late surge and a three pointer by Jade Herl tied the score at 55 with seven minutes left in the game. From there, Cameron took a five point lead on a Ali Brown three with just over two minutes left. Powered by four key points by Andrea Carter and a game winning lay-up by Deanna Jones, the Mustangs finished the game on a 6-0 run. Robinson led the Aggies with 23 points, while Christina Caddy chipped in 14 and Herl and Brown both had 10. Carter led the Mustangs with 20 points and eight boards, with Kristi Degelia, Jones, and Taylor Down all scoring in double figures.

Scouting the Mustangs
The Mustangs are now 16-10 and 8-7 in conference play. Last time out, MSU got upset by Texas A&M-Kingsville, 83-77. Midwestern State won both the rebounding and turnover battle in the game, but the Javelinas lights out shooting of 58% from the field and 50% from the three point line was too much for the Mustang defense.

While the MSU offense is fourth in the conference in scoring and third in field goal percentage, their defense has struggled, giving up close to 68 points per game and allowing their opponents to shoot .419 from the field and a league worst .354 from the three point line. The Mustangs are last in rebounds per game, but take care of the ball when they do have it with an assist/turnover ratio of .95.

The Mustangs are led by Andrea Carter in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, and steals. Carter is second in the LSC in scoring with 16 points per game and third in rebounding with nine boards per game. Additionally, Dianna Jones leads the team and league in assists (4.8) and assist/turnover ratio.

LSC Stack Up
The Aggies are fourth in the LSC in scoring offense and scoring defense, and third in scoring margin at 5.5. CU is second in the league in three pointers made with 7.8 per game and three point percentage (.383). On Defense, the Aggies have the second best field goal defense and best three point defense in the LSC and have fallen to fourth in blocks with 2.52 per game. Additionally, Cameron is second in rebounding with 40.2 boards per night.

Individually, Jazzmine Robinson is ninth in the LSC with 12.2 points a game, and is 10th in rebounds, two spots in front of Lacy Reinke and Ali Brown, and five spots behind Christina Caddy, who moved into fifth in the conference in rebounding with her 20 board game against TSU and 14 board game against A&M-Kingsville, giving her and average of 6.9 rebounds per game. Chelsea Stamp and Jade Herl are the top two in three pointers made and three point percentage, and are both in the top-28 in points per game, along with teammates Robinson, Brown, and Caddy. Brittany Harris is second in assists per game (4.6) and assist/turnover ratio, while Reinke has fallen to third in blocks with 24 total and an average of 1.0 per game.

Put a Stamp on it
A year after breaking Michelle Brogden's record of 62 three pointers in a single season, making 65, Chelsea Stamp rewrote her own record against Texas A&M-Kingsville, hitting five of six from behind the arc to give her 68 three pointers on the season. She has since then extended the record to 71 and is averaging a LSC best 2.8 three point field goals per game.

Living by the three
With 12 team three pointers made against Texas A&M-Kingsville, the 2013-14 Aggies surpassed the 2009-10 CU team in team three pointers made in a season. The original record was 180; the current Aggie team has made 186 shots from behind the arc and have a three point percentage of .381. Cameron is the eighth best team in the nation when it comes down to knocking down threes, and are led by Chelsea Stamp and Jade Herl, who are third and seventh in three point efficiency in the nation.

Coming Up
The Aggies control their fate and will await the results of Saturday's action to know when and who they will play next.
