Box Score 2 LAWTON, Okla. --- Cameron used some seventh inning magic to sweep #11 Angelo State 5-4 and 7-6 in a doubleheader on Friday afternoon at McMahon Field. The two wins against the Rambelles gives the Aggies a six game winning streak.
Prior to Friday's matchup Cameron had lost 10 in a row to ASU, while the Rambelles have won their last ten contests in a row overall. Â
Until the last week the Aggies have lost 19 in a row against ranked teams; they have now won their last three.
Additionally, as a program Cameron (19-9, 5-5 LSC) not only surpassed their win total from the last two seasons by two games they also matched the number of wins they have ever had against Angelo State.
The Aggies trailed 4-2 in the seventh inning in game one but an Angelo State leadoff error would lead to two runs. Â
Tara Martini would later hit a walk off no doubt homer into center field in the ninth to hand Angelo State the loss 5-4.
Sam Betts (8-3) used 145 pitches to go all nine innings in the longest outing by a CU thrower since Feb. 26, 2012 where Carrie Dilks went 10 innings against Northeastern State. Betts gave up four runs, 10 hits, and struck out a pair in the win.
Martini gave Cameron a 3 for 4 effort in game one with two runs scored.
In game two the Aggies survived four errors and managed to plate five runs in the seventh inning to comeback to win 7-6.Â
Angelo State broke a 2-2 tie and took advantage of three Cameron defensive miscues to score three runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh to take a 6-2 lead.
However, an opportunity came for Cameron in the final frame of the game with ASU letting two straight CU hitters reach off of errors and then
Macy McKay would load the bases off of a single. Martini hit a hard ground ball out to second base to score one runner before a popup would put Cameron to their last out.Â
Sonora Zukerman and
Paige Daino kept the Ags alive with a back-to-back singles to put Cameron back a run.  With runners at second and third
Emily Nix who was hitless in her prior three at-bats smacked a 2-2 pitch with a single to left field to plate in the tying and winning run to complete Cameron's second seventh inning comeback of the afternoon.
Kelsey Watson (9-5) earned the win giving up six runs (three earned) while punching out four ASU hitters.
Zukerman had three hits with a pair of RBI, while McKay,
Misty Dooley, and
Breezy McComas all had a pair of hits.
Both teams will come back on Saturday to wrap up the four game series with a doubleheader starting at 1 pm. Â
