Box Score 2 LAWTON, Okla. – Cameron's luck ran out on Saturday afternoon against #11 Angelo State as they would fall 9-8 in 11 innings in game one and then get run-ruled 11-3 in five innings in game two.
The losses on Saturday snapped a six game winning streak for the Aggies and moves them to 19-11 overall and 5-7 in Lone Star Conference action.Â
Cameron's 11 inning marathon in game one was their longest game since Feb. 22, 2011 where they went 12 innings at Tarleton State.
Tara Martini kept her hitting strike alive and it moved to eleven games. In the last seven games this week she hit a blistering .433 at the plate with a pair of homers and doubles, a triple, four stolen bases, and 14 RBI.
After falling behind 4-0 in game one the Aggies used a five run third inning to take the lead. Martini plated a pair off of a double and
Paige Daino blasted a three run homer into center field to pull CU ahead.
However, Cameron would need to rally from behind twice after Angelo State took a 7-6 lead into the seventh.Â
The Aggies started the inning with back-to-back walks that would lead to a
Emily Nix sacrifice fly to tie the game.
After two scoreless innings the international tie-breaker rule came into effect to place a runner on second base to start the tenth inning. Â
However, an Aggie fielding error to start the inning would lead to the go-ahead run for the Rambelles.
Cameron wasn't done though and
Misty Dooley plated in the Aggies eighth run in the bottom half of the inning with a single to tie the game once again.
Angelo State responded back in the eleventh with a single to place runners at the corners before they plated in the winning run off of a ground ball to take game one 9-8.Â
Game two was all Angelo State as they went in and scored in all five innings to quickly win 11-3.Â
Cameron got a run in the second off of a double-steal and
Macy McKay and Martini both hit RBI singles in the fifth.
Sam Betts (8-5) was charged for the loss in both games, she would come in as a reliever in the first game going four innings while giving up two unearned runs; in second game she started and went three innings and coughed up six earned runs.
Cameron will be off until Friday where they will start a four game series at Texas A&M Kingsville.
