Cameron wraps up season series with a sweep of Texas A&M Kingsville

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 KINGSVILLE, Texas – Prior to this weekend Cameron has won only one softball game at Texas A&M Kingsville, they now have five after completing the four game series sweep on Saturday afternoon.

Cameron rallied from a 4-1 deficit to win game one 5-4 before taking the series in the nightcap 7-2.

The Aggies have won 10 of their last 12 games and moved to 23-11 overall and 9-7 in the Lone Star Conference and it is the first time since Apr. 2009 that they are 12 games above .500 overall.

With 11 league contests remaining on the schedule the Aggies are tied with Texas Woman's for fourth and they are four games back of Angelo State who is in first place.

Cameron trailed for the majority of the first game with Texas A&M Kingsville leading 4-1 after five innings. 

In the top of the sixth the Aggies collected three runs to pull even with the Javelinas at four apiece; Carly Allerheiligen, Kelsy Hebert, and Misty Dooley all had a hand with plating a RBI.

Cameron's scoring continued in the seventh after Jill Ledford hit a fielder's choice to plate the go-ahead run and Emily Nix added a RBI double to give CU a 7-5 win.

Sam Betts (10-5) tossed six innings, giving up four earned runs, and striking out six in the winning effort.  Kelsey Watson finished the game in the seventh and picked up her second save of the season.

The Javelinas opened with a slight 1-0 advantage in game two but Cameron punched through five runs with no outs recorded in the third to sail to a 7-2 win.

Cameron batters knocked in 11 hits with Tara Martini and Breezy McComas both having a pair of RBI. 

Kelsey Watson (11-5) tossed six strong innings in the circle with only three hits and a run allowed; for the weekend she won two games, earned a save, and allowed one run and four hits in 14 innings pitched. 

Cameron will return to action on Apr. 4-5 to face Tarleton State for a four game series.
