Box Score 2 CANYON, Texas –  The Cameron University softball team gave up early runs to number-1 ranked West Texas A&M and couldn't recover falling 9-3 in game one and 8-2 in the nightcap on Friday.
This was first time since the opening two games of the season that Cameron has lost consecutive games and sends them to 13-7 overall and 2-3 in Lone Star Conference play; the Lady Buffs are 22-2 overall and 3-2 in league play.

In game one the Lady Buffs opened up with a grand slam and a RBI single to game them the 5-0 lead over the Aggies.  Following a scoreless second and third inning the Aggies cut down the WT lead to two runs in the fourth off of a
Breezy McComas three RBI double into right centerfield.Â
West Texas A&M responded back in the bottom half of the inning with a two run homer to make it an 7-3 game.
Cameron's offense would go silent as WT added a pair of runs off of two doubles to take the first game 9-3.
The Aggies would only get five hits off of WT's pitching with McComas accounting for two of CU's hits.Â
Kelsey Watson (6-4) coughed up seven runs and 10 hits in five innings of work.Â
In the second game, WT jumped out in front after a three run second inning and never looked back on the Aggies.Â
The Lady Buffs knocked in eight runs with three homers on 11 hits off of CU starter
Sam Betts (5-2) who tossed the complete game.
Cameron could only counter with a run in the fourth and seventh in the loss and they would get five hits off of Lady Buff pitching.
The Aggies will look to prevent a series sweep by WT on Saturday with the first pitch scheduled at 3 pm.
