Box Score CANYON, Texas – The Cameron University softball team outhit #1 West Texas A&M early they would fall 4-2 at Schaeffer Park on Saturday afternoon.
Aggie batters stung together eight hits off of WT pitching but a three run second inning by the Lady Buffs proved to be the difference.
With the loss on Saturday the Aggies (13-8, 2-4 LSC) have dropped their last nine games in a row to West Texas A&M (23-2, 4-2 LSC).
The Lady Buffs got two of their runs in the second off of a two RBI single down the right field line and plated anther run from a double-steal where WT would swipe home plate.  WT added an insurance run in the fifth on a suicide squeeze bunt to score a Lady Buff runner in from home.
Cameron countered with run in the sixth after
Sonora Zukerman hit a two out double to plate
Tara Martini in from second.  In the seventh, the Aggies knocked in one more run with two outs with
Misty Dooley doubling to left field to score
Emily Nix. Â
Kelsey Watson (6-5) went the distance for CU with four earned runs, nine punch outs, while allowing only four hits.
The Aggies will return to action on March 13-16 in Wichita Falls, Texas for the Lone Star Conference Softball Festival.Â
