Long Ball Pushes Aggies to Split with Mustangs

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Offense carried Cameron and Midwestern State to split a doubleheader on Friday night with MSU taking game one 10-1 in five innings and CU winning the nightcap 9-3.

Tara Martini provided the Aggies some pop at the plate with a RBI double in the loss and she would and a pair of hits and a three run blast in the fourth inning during the 9-3 win.   With the hits in the doubleheader she pushed her reached base streak to 26 games.  

Paige Daino had her first multi-homer game in the nightcap with three hits, and four RBI; Carly Allerheiligen and Kelsey Watson both had three hit nights at the plate as well.

In game one the Mustangs led from the start to finish with CU getting their lone run in the fifth with Martini doubling for the 15th time this season.

Sam Betts (10-7) was charged with the loss going 4 1/3 innings with 10 runs given up.

Cameron returned the favor to the Mustangs with 15 hits and three homers for the win.

Daino knocked in a solo homer in the second and followed it up with three run homer in the third.

Watson (14-8) tossed her 13th complete game of the season in the win and gave up three runs.

Misty Dooley had a hit in each game with to push her reached base streak to 24 games.

With the split to Midwestern State the Aggies move to 26-16 overall and 12-10 in the Lone Star Conference; Cameron remains one game back of MSU for fourth place in the league standings.

Cameron will finish the series with Midwestern State on Wednesday for a doubleheader at McMahon Field.
