Cameron falls to #25 Texas Woman's on Senior Day

Box Score LAWTON, Okla. – A five run seventh inning proved to be the difference as #25 Texas Woman's would take final game of the series 8-5 on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss to TWU, Cameron moved to 29-18 overall and 15-12 in the Lone Star Conference.   The Aggies will enter the LSC Tournament on Friday as the number-5 seed to face Midwestern State.

Both teams played cat and mouse with CU striking first with a solo shot from Breezy McComas to give the Aggies the 1-0 lead after the first.  In the next frame, a leadoff single and hit by pitch led to a RBI single to pull even with the Aggies.

McComas put the Aggies back on top in the third with her tenth homer of the season but CU's lead would diminish in the fourth after the Pioneers hit a one out single to left field to tie the game at two.

After a scoreless fifth, TWU opened their half of the inning with a pair of singles and a wild pitch would advance the runners to scoring position.   A strike out and popup nearly bailed CU out of the inning but a single through the right side would score one run and a strong throw from McComas in right field nailed the second runner down at home to end the inning with TWU leading 3-2.

In the bottom half of the inning Misty Dooley opening things off with a bloop single and a misplay by the TWU left fielder advanced her to third.   After a McComas popup, Tara Martini hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Dooley in from third to tie the game once again.

However, the Pioneers opened the seventh up with back-to-back homers which would lead to three more runs and they took the 8-3 advantage after the top of the seventh.

The Aggies put up a fight though and with two outs Kelsey Watson drew an 11 pitch walk before Emily Nix homered to center field to pull CU within three.  Macy McKay kept the Aggies alive with a single but the rally would end with a fly out to left field.

McComas was the only Aggie with a two hits, Dooley singled to move her streak to 28 straight games were she has reached base.  With a 0-2 day, Tara Martini had a RBI but she would have her reached base streak end at 30 straight games.

Sam Betts started the game and ended the game for the Aggies going 4 2/3 innings while giving up five runs (four earned), Watson (15-10) pitched the middle section of the contest and gave up three runs in the loss.

Cameron will travel next to Canyon or San Angelo, Texas to play in the LSC Tournament on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
