LAWTON -- After winning two straight conference road games earlier this week, the Aggie women's basketball returns home to battle the Tarleton State Univeristy TexAnns Saturday afternoon at the Aggie Gym. The two teams are tied for second in the Lone Star Conference rankings at 3-1 and Cameron has won three straight against TSU.

First Tip: The Aggies are on a two game win streak heading into the game against Tarleton State, having beat Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas Woman's earlier this week. CU narrowly beat the Lions by one point on Wednesday, but were on fire in a 12 point victory over the Pioneers on Thursday, shooting 53 percent from the field and almost 65 percent from behind the arc.
Jazzmine Robinson led the way with 26 points and 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season, and
Brandi Leal scored 20 points, going 6-8 from the three point line.
Heading into the game on Saturday, the TexAnns lead the overall series against the Aggies, 15-12, but Cameron has had the upper hand lately, winning three the past three games against TSU. CU swept the series last season, upsetting the ranked TexAnns both on the road and at home. The last time Tarleton visited the Aggie Gym,
Jade Herl scored 12 points and Robinson had 11 in the 69-64 win.
About Tarleton State: The TexAnns started the season with a 6-2 non-conference record, getting wins over Southern Arkansas, Texas Wesleyan, Lubbock Christian, UT-Permian Basin, Arlington Baptist, and Concord. They started out LSC play with a loss to Texas Woman's, but have won three straight since then, beating Angelo State, Texas A&M-Kingsville, and Midwestern State, who was at that point undefeated in league play.
As a team, Tarleton State is fourth in the LSC in scoring at 68.3 points per game, and third in scoring defense, allowing 62.7 points per contest. They are second in the league in shooting, hitting 41.7 percent of their shots from the field, and are also second in three point percentage (.363) and free throw percentage (.746). Additionally, they average 14 assists per game, and on defense, hold their opponents to shooting just .271 from behind the arc.
Individually, Kathy Thomas leads the team and is fifth in the LSC with 13.6 points per game, while Ikpeaku Iwobi is 10th at 12.3 points per game. Iwobi is also fifth with 7.9 rebounds per game and leads the conference, making 86.8 percent of her free throw attempts.
All-Around Game: Jazzmine Robinson has proven to be a dynamic player for the Aggies this season, she is tops in the LSC in scoring (18.3), third in rebounds (8.6), third in FG percentage (.455), and fifth in assists (3.1). Nationally, she is ranked in the top-50 in points and top-100 in rebounds.
Lighting it up from Long Range: The Aggies are the top team in the LSC in three point shooting, which was made known after hitting 11-17 of their shots from deep against TWU on Thursday. This season, Cameron is hitting 38.5 percent of their shots from long range, and making eight three pointer per contest. Nationally, Cameron is ranked 15th in three point shots made per game, and 11th in three point percentage.
Brandi Leal and
Jade Herl lead the three point barrage. Leal leads the LSC and is third in the nation, hitting 3.54 deep shots per game, while Herl is second in the LSC and 40th in the nation with 2.7 per game. They are both in the top-5 in the league and top-100 in the nation in three point percentage.
Coming Up: After their battle with Tarleton State, the Aggies will return to their home court to host Texas A&M-Kingsville on Wednesday, Jan. 21.
