Aggies home opener starts important week for program

The Starting Five
1.    Cameron will have a busy, but important week opening the season with eight in-region contests against the RMAC and Heartland Conference.
2.    Tuesday will Cameron's only home contests in the month of February.
3.    There are seven players on Cameron's roster than are from Lawton, with six playing at MacArthur High School.
4.    Cameron will be playing each of the top-5 2014 finishers in the RMAC standings.  Adams State is the only school CU has faced more than once and holds a 3-0 record against the Grizzles, and they have never faced MSU-Denver or Chardon State.  
5.    The Aggies will have their entire lineup returning for the season, CU's key loss was starting pitcher Sam Betts who started 23 games and went 13-8 in the circle.

CU Notebook
- Carly Allerheiligen will open the season with a four game hitting streak.
- Tara Martini needs 16 doubles to tie Megan Young (2006-09) who had 55 doubles in her four year career at Cameron, presently she is tied with her sister Leslie (2010-13) with 39.  Martini also needs 46 RBI to be CU's all-time leader, Young holds the program mark with 165. 
- The Aggies were selected fifth in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll, minoring their 2014 finish.
- Cameron posted their best winning percentage in program history (.596) after finishing with a 31-21 overall record and third highest win total.
- The Aggies have two (Macy McKay and Lauren Renneker) who were on squads that reached the College World Series, McKay in 2012 with Central Oklahoma and Renneker in 2014 with Southeastern Oklahoma; both are Lawton natives.
- Cameron has 10 players who came from the same high school (MacArthur, Cache, or Denton-Ryan).
- Lauren Renneker's mother Gladys, coached the Aggie softball program from 1997-2005 and is Cameron's winningest coach with 170 wins.
- Established in 1977, Cameron has the longest continually operating softball program in the Lone Star Conference. 

Rogers State (0-0)
- Carley Conley is RSU's top returner with a .287 BA and a team high 10 doubles and 10 swiped bags.
- Of RSU's three pitchers from 2014 only Mikayla McGoldrick returned to the squad, but she saw limited time with only seven innings tossed in the circle.
- Rogers State is led by second year Head Coach Amy Cope who is 18-35 with the Hillcats
- The Hillcats were picked to finish sixth in the Heartland Conference after finishing with a 18-35 overall record and a 9-15 league record.
- Cameron went 2-0 against RSU last season, Misty Dooley had a pair of hits and walks with three RBI, and Tara Martini had a homer with three RBI.

MSU-Denver (4-2)
- Six of the team's top nine hitters return in 2015, and the returners accounted for 63 percent of the team's hits, 61 percent of the team's RBIs, 64 percent of the team's runs and 64 percent of the team's home runs in 2014, while combining to bat .355.
- Sophomore pitcher Cassidy Smith was tabbed as the RMAC preseason pitcher of the year.
- Picked to win the 2015 RMAC title with 10 first place votes.
- Finished with a 33-17 overall record and earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament by winning the RMAC postseason tournament,
- Led by second year coach Annie Van Wetzinga who is 33-17 at MSU-Denver and 186-173 in seven seasons.

Adams State (0-0)
- Senior catcher Erica Haugum and senior outfielder Erika Ecsedy were selected to the RMAC preseason team.  Ecsedy finished the 2014 regular season batting .401 with 55 hits, 17 doubles, five triples, 10 home runs, and 52 RBIs, while Haugum finished 2014 with a .370 batting average with 54 hits and 37 runs scored.
- Picked to finish third in the RMAC after a 28-25 season.
- Led by Dervin Taylor who is in his fourth season at Adams State and led the Grizzlies to two consecutive RMAC West Championships; he is 107-93 at ASU.

CSU-Pueblo (3-3)
- Senior Kelli Henry was named to the RMAC Preseason All-Conference team.  In 2014, Henry led the Pack in the circle finishing with a 10-9 record in 120.1 innings pitched. 
- Picked to finish second in the RMAC after 27-21 season in 2014.
- Led by Christie Zinanti who is in her third season at Colorado State University-Pueblo.  Since coming on to begin the 2013 season, she has gone 56-39 overall.

Colorado Mesa (3-3)
- Offense is led by junior shortstop Makayla Kovac who was one of 50  selected to the watch list for the Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II National Player of the Year award. She was a - NFCA Second Team All-American and the RMAC Player of the Year in 2014 and  batted .497 with 20 doubles, four triples and 18 home runs.
- Won the 2014 Regular Season RMAC title with a 26-12 league record and a 27-21 overall record.
- Led by first year head coach Ben Garcia who comes to CMU after spending the past three seasons at Otera Junior College.   He posted a 143-42 mark at Otero including a pair of Region IX Championships in 2013 and 2014.

Chadron State (0-6)
- Posted their first ever winning season in 2014 and won a school record 27 games. 
- Picked to finish sixth in the RMAC preseason poll.
- CSC returns seven starters in 2015.  Taylor Bauer and Courtney Lecher return as the best hitters for the team, finishing last season with batting averages above .315.
- Led by Dr. Robert Stack who in seven season has posted nearly 150 wins and was tabbed as the 2014 RMAC Coach of the Year.

Colo. School of Mines (1-5)
- Cassie Ford and Paige Noehring were preseason RMAC selections.  Ford ranked fifth in the conference in batting average (.431), eighth in RBI (49), ninth in doubles (14) and Noehring, the team's lone freshman in 2014, finished fourth in the conference in triples (4) and 12th in hits (62).
- Tabbed to finish tenth in the RMAC preseason poll after 20-25 overall record in 2014.
- Led by second year head coach Leah Glasgow. 

Last Time Out
- Cameron went 1-2 in the NCAA South Central Regional which was hosted at Angelo State.
- CU was two outs away from playing eliminating top-seeded Angelo State in the regional.
- The Aggies came a play at the plate away from tying the Rambelles in the bottom of the seventh in an elimination game.
- Paige Daino had a pair of hits and RBI against ASU.

Coming Up
The Aggies will remain on road and will travel to Hurst, Texas for an invitational on Feb. 20-22 to face five different programs.
