CU women's basketball visits Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday

Game Notes

First tip: The Aggie women are looking to follow up an 87-83 overtime victory against Angelo State on Wednesday with a win over Texas A&M-Kingsville on the road. The Javelinas have dropped their last ten contests this season and have lost 22 straight league games dating back to last season. Through 15 contests this season, all of CU's wins have come in pairs with Dayla Threatt leading the Aggie offense with 13.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Brandi Leal averages 11.1 points with 3.3 three-pointers per game and scored a team high 23 points during the overtime win over ASU. As a team the Aggies are number-1 in the LSC in three-point field goals made (9 per game) and second in three point field goal percentages (35.9%).
 
Last time out: Cameron lived at the arc and halted a three game Angelo State winning streak in overtime.  The Aggies tossed up 40 shots and sank 13 at the three-point line to beat ASU 87-83 to close out their home stand with a victory. 

Wednesday night's contest is the Aggies' first overtime contest in two seasons, which was a 76-72 win on Feb. 8, 2014 over Tarleton State in Lawton. 

Brandi Leal led the Ags with 23 points and was one short of tying her own three-point record with seven made shots from beyond the arc.  Dayla Threatt picked up her first career double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds.   Brittney Hill and Charron Montgomery also hit double-figures with 10 points each; Montgomery would add five assists.

About Texas A&M-Kingsville: The Javelinas have yet to secure a win in the LSC (0-6) this season and are 5-11 overall with a ten game skid. Last season, Texas A&M-Kingsville lost all sixteen conference games to make 22 straight league losses heading into the current season The squad is averaging 55.3 ppg while allowing 63.6 ppg on the opponent's side of the floor. In the past three games, the Javelinas have been held under 50 points. Overall, the team is shooting 34.2% from the field, 27.5% behind the arc, and 67.3% at the line. They are led by Kaylin Roher who is averaging 11.8 ppg, which is sixth in the LSC, and she drains 2.2 three-pointers per game (3rd LSC) and shoots 34.7% at the arc (4th LSC).
 
CU vs. TAMUK Series: Cameron has won their last three meetings with Texas A&M-Kingsville and came through to earn a 78-65 victory at Kingsville last season, snapping a three game road skid.  The Aggies do trail the overall series 15-18 and on the road they are 5-11.  Should Cameron win on Saturday, it will be only the second time they would have taken back-to-back road contests at Kingsville.  Under Head Coach Tom Webb, the Aggies are 5-5 in eight seasons.
