First Tip:
The Aggies enter conference play coming off a 1-1 trip to the West Texas A&M Classic. CU lost to Colorado Christian in overtime 81-78 in their first game and then defeated Tuskegee 84-71 in their second game.
Savanna James averaged a double-double and was named to the All-Tournament team. Starting the season out 2-4, Cameron is shooting just 36 percent from the field, but has thrived on the perimeter, making a league best nine three pointers a game, while shooting at a 31 percent clip. They also defend the three point arc well, holding the opposition to 24 percent from outside, which is also tops in the LSC. CU is second in the league in rebounding with 257, while averaging 42.8 per game.
Individually, the Aggies have four players averaging double figures in scoring with
Charron Montgomery and
Savanna James leading the charge tallying over 12 ppg. James also averages 8.7 boards per contest, and is first in the conference with her three double-doubles this season.
Brittany Hill averages three steals per contest to total 18 on the season putting her in the top-30 on the national leader board and number-1 in the LSC.
About Texas A&M-Commerce:
Texas A&M-Commerce enters conference play with a 4-2 overall record. In their last outing on Nov. 27, the Lions defeated Southeastern Oklahoma on the road 78-73 in overtime. As a team, they are shooting 37 percent from the field, 28 percent from behind the arc, and 77 percent at the line. A&M-Commerce is tops in the LSC in getting to the free throw line, averaging 26 free throw attempts a game, while making 14 a game. They also lead the league in rebounding, grabbing 263 so far, while averaging 43.8 per contest. Artaejah Gay leads the Lions, averaging 12.7 points and 1.5 blocks per game, which is a league best. Brianna Wise is averaging 10.7 points per game, and leads the conference in free throw shooting, hitting 17 of her 19 shots from the charity stripe. Also averaging double-figures for the Lions are Khala Riley (11.5 ppg) and Krystal Pickron (10.5 ppg). Riley and Wise lead the team with just over six rebounds per game each.

The TexAnns are 1-4 overall and will play Midwestern State prior to Cameron in their Lone Star Conference season debut. Last week TSU traveled to St. Mary's where they fell 48-36 after shooting 28 percent from the field and 3-for-21 from out deep. As a team, they are shooting 38 percent from the field, 27 percent from behind the arc, and 68 percent at the line. TSU is fourth in the LSC in scoring defense, holding their opponents to 58.8 points per game, while turning them over an average of 18 times a contest, which is third best in the LSC. On offense, they are scoring 54.2 points per game, only reaching 60 points in two of their five contests. Leading the TexAnns in scoring is Bailey Wipff who averages 11.6 ppg. Also averaging in double figures is Tiara Tatum (10.4 ppg) and Mackenzie Hailey (10 ppg). Hailey and teammate Ikpeaku Iwobi are both fourth in the LSC with seven rebounds per game, while Bailey Peck is fifth in the league with 3.6 assists per contest and second with an assist/turnover ratio of 3.6.
