Live VideoLAWTON -- The Cameron softball team will open Lone Star Conference play by hosting Texas A&M-Commerce in a two day doubleheader series this weekend. Additionally, there is a game time change to Saturday's contest with the Lions, which is now a 10 a.m. doubleheader start; Friday's game time is unchanged.
The Aggies extended their win streak to eight following a 4-0 weekend at the Northeastern State Invitational, with two games ending in a five inning run-rule. Cameron has moved up to 14-5 in non-conference play after out-slugging William Jewell 17-10 and run-ruled host NSU 11-3 in five innings to begin the invite's opening day. The Aggies then won 8-0 over Lindenwood in five innings and capped the weekend with an 8-1 victory over Rogers State.
Emily Wasinger (5-1) picked up two wins, tossing a complete game against NSU, and allowing only one run against RSU.
Sonora Zukerman (5-1) also got two wins, one in relief and pitched a near no-hitter against Lindenwood. Cameron would combine 49 total hits with four Aggies hitting homeruns as
Annie Combs hit two homers on the series, one for 3 RBI. Meanwhile,
Carly Allerheiligen highlighted a seven run fourth inning with a grand slam down the right field line against RSU for a five RBI day at the plate.

- In the program's second season, the Lions are receiving votes in the NCFA Poll.
- A&M-Commerce was selected to finish sixth in the Lone Star Conference Preseason poll, following a 29-24 campaign in the program's inaugural season.
- Ciera Nunez leads the Lion offense, batting .474 with 18 hits and eight runs batted in. Cherie Jackson has hit .452, compiling 20 RBI this season and five homeruns. In the Lions' win over St. Edward's, Jackson went 3-for-4, with two homeruns for five runs batted in.
- Pitcher Brittany Woolridge (3-1) leads in the circle with 2.02 ERA and 18 strikeouts this season. She pitched in a 12-0 shutout against Black Hills State.
LSC Hitter of the WeekChelsea DeLong had a hit in all six games last week for the Aggies and a RBI in all but one game. The Aggie senior had 11 RBI with 21 putouts from behind the plate in the 6-0 week for Cameron. Against William Jewell, she had three hits and four runs scored and versus Rogers State went 3-for-3.Â
In the six games last week, DeLong batted .526, scoring seven runs, and striking out only once in 19 at-bats.
