LEADING OFF
1. Cameron softball finds themselves sixth in the South Central Region announced on Wednesday in the NCAA's second of three regional polls for the 2016 season. West Texas A&M sits atop of the poll followed by St. Mary's, Colorado Mesa, Texas Woman's, Texas A&M-Commerce, Cameron, Lubbock Christian, and Angelo State. Metropolitan State and Tarleton State are outside of the top-eight and would miss the cut if this were the final poll.
2. With four regular games remaining, the Aggies have clinched their third winning season in a row for the second time in program history. Cameron's 32 wins this season is tied for third most in 40 seasons of softball at the university.
3. For the Aggies to move to second place in the LSC standings and get a first round bye they would at the very least need to split at ASU, and Texas Woman's gets swept by No. 1 West Texas A&M. If CU and TWU tie in the standings, the Aggies hold the tiebreaker by winning the in-season series. Should Texas Woman's win one game, the Aggies would then need to win three games this weekend. If TWU splits the series, Cameron needs to sweep ASU; should Texas Woman's win the series with WT, the Aggies cannot move to second place.
4. The Aggies average 1.02 homers per game, which is 13th best in the nation;
Breezy McComas is tied for 17th nationally with 13 homers this year.
5. Cameron is 24-1 this season when they out-hit their opposition and are 18-0 when leading past the fifth inning.
