Women's Basketball faces off against No. 13 Angelo State and Texas A&M-Kingsville

Game Notes

First tip:
- Cameron faces a tough task this week, as they have to visit No. 15 Angelo State on Thursday and then travel to Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday.
- The Aggies have one four out of their last five games, after taking down both Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce, who both beat them earlier in the season, last week.
- Against the TexAnns, CU shot over 61 percent from three point range and hit 14-17 from the free throw line in the 81-72 victory; four Aggies had 10 or more points with Jamie Bonnarens leading the way with 18 points after going 6-8 from the field.
- Two days later, Cameron got caught in a shootout with Texas A&M-Commerce, as they took down the Lions 96-94; as a team the Ags had 13 steals, while Natalie Halbleib recorded a career high 26 points and six steals to go along with 11 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season.
- The Aggies post the 13th best scoring offense in the nation, averaging over 80 points per game, while shooting just over 40 percent from the field, while improving their free throw percentage to just over 70 percent.
- Nationally, Savanna James has the 13th best field goal percentage, while also ranking in the top-5 in the Lone Star Conference in points and rebounds.
- Freshman, Bonnarens has scored 20 or more points in three of the last five games and has improved her points per game average to 13.3.
- Halbleib broke out for a career night against A&M-Commerce and is now averaging 11.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest.
- Both Bonnarens and Halbleib are top-20 in the LSC in points and rebounds.
-Charron Montgomery and Brittany Hill have continued to be one of the best guard duos in the conference, with each averaging over 3.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game. 
 
About Angelo State:
- The Rambelles two loses against West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico, moved them back in the national poll, but they are still ranked in the top-20 in the nation.
- ASU also went 2-0 last week, taking down the Javelinas and then Texas Woman's.
-Angelo State is first in the LSC and 10th nationally with 81.1 points per game, while shooting 44.7 percent from the field.
- The Rambelles have been outscoring opponents by a margin of 15.2 points, while holding their opposition to just 65.9 points per game.
- Taylor Dorsey is second in the LSC with 17.7 points per game, while leading the league with 2.2 steals per contest.
- Jasmine Prophet is currently in the top-10 in the conference in points, rebounds, and blocks, while leading the LSC in shooting.
 
The series vs. ASU:
- ASU leads 26-21
- Cameron is 5-14 all time when playing in San Angelo, Texas.
- Last Meeting: December 31, 2016 in Lawton, Okla. (79-76 ASU win).
 
Last time vs. the Rambelles:
In their first meeting this season, Cameron almost knocked off at that time No. 4 ASU, falling 79-76. CU shot just 37 percent from the field and 30 percent from three-point range, but held the Rambelles to just two made three pointers. CU opened the game up with a 22-13 first quarter, but could not hold the lead throughout. James had 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Halbleib also chipped in 12 rebounds to go along with 14 points. Dorsey led Angelo with 22 points, while Prophet had a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
 
About A&M-Kingsville:
- The Javelinas have just one out of their last five contests, after falling to both Angelo State and Texas Woman's last week.
- Kingsville is second to last in the LSC with 62.4 points per game, while allowing just 62.3 to their opponents.
- TAMUK is shooting just 36.6 percent from the field, 35 percent from three, and a league worst 63.2 percent from the free throw line.
- Kaylin Roher is 14th in the LSC in scoring, while hitting a league best 2.6 threes per game at a 41.2 percent clip.
- Kaylee Kana is fourth in the conference in rebounding, Meesha Wade is ninth in assists, and Angelica Wilson is sixth in blocks.
 
The series vs. A&M-K:
- Series tied 18-18.
- The Aggies have won six straight against the Javelinas.
- Last Meeting: December 17, 2016 in Lawton, Okla. (97-63 CU win).
 
Last time vs. the Javelinas:
In the Aggies conference opener, they put together one of their best all around performances of the season, taking down the Javelinas 97-63. CU shot 48.6 percent from the field, 42.3 percent from the perimeter and went 18-21 from the charity stripe. They also held TAMUK to shooting under 35 percent from the field and forced 25 turnovers. James had a 26 point eight rebound night, while Halbleib added 19 points and nine rebounds. Roher led the Javelinas with 11 points. 

Next up:
The Cameron women  will remain on the road for their next two games as they travel to West Texas A&M and UT Permian Basin next week to conclude their four game road stretch.
