Box Score LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron women's basketball team used the perimeter to down Midwestern State 82-78 on Tuesday in the Aggie Gym.
The Aggies made 12 three-pointers, six in each half, to combine with a 42 percent shooting efforts from the field and 64 percent effort at the line.
Savanna James led the Aggies with 20 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double.
Brittany Hill scored 19 points, 17 of which occurred in the third quarter where she also drained three straight three-pointers.
Jamie Bonnarens rounded out the Aggies in double figures after contributing 11 points.
In the first half, MSU's Kristin Rydell kept the Aggies busy with 18 points, going 7-for-8 from the field and 3-for-4 from the arc. Both sides kept close never gaining the lead by more than two possessions.
Cameron led 36-35 in the second period until the Mustangs took a 7-2 run in the final two minutes to gain a 42-38 advantage at the half after outscoring CU 19-9 during that quarter.
Hill would open the second half in big fashion by making three straight from downtown and accounted for 17 of the Ags 24 third period points.
Ava Battese capped off the strong outing with a trey with 30 seconds remaining for a six-point CU lead.
MSU would close the gap in the fourth and take a narrow two possession lead until the Ags went on a 9-2 run to take their largest lead of eight points 78-70 around the 3:43-marker. Six straight free throws in the course of one minute put the Mustangs behind 80-78 with under a minute to go.
However, two good
Cristina Soriano free throws would seal the deal as the Aggies would win 82-78 to move to 11-14 and 9-10 in the Lone Star Conference. MSU is now 8-17 and 5-14 in the league.
The Aggies will close out the regular season at home at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday with Texas Woman's.
