Game Notes

First tip:
- Cameron's women's basketball team looks to upset the no. 2 seeded and no. 20 ranked Lone Star Conference Regular Season Co-Champion Angelo State in the first round of the LSC Tournament.
- The Aggies lost both of their regular season matchups against ASU, falling 79-76 at home and 90-72 on the road.
- CU enters the tournament with a sour taste in their mouth having split their final regular season games against Midwestern State and Texas Woman's.
- The Black and Gold came back from a 42-38 deficit at the half to beat MSU 82-78, as CU went 12-26 from the perimeter; Savanna James had 20 points and nine rebounds, while Brittany Hill added 19 points, with 17 of those coming in the third quarter.
- The script was flipped against Texas Woman's, as CU held a 60-37 lead at the break, but went cold in the second half, as TWU shot 71.4 percent from the field and went 5-6 from three in the final 20 minutes to earn the 103-90 win; James led the Ags again with 23 points, while Ava Battese had a career high 17 points.
- Cameron is still ranked 16 in the nation and second in the LSC in scoring, averaging 78.8 points per contest.
- CU also leads the conference in steals per game and turnovers forced, while ranking second in the league in three pointers made per contest.
- James is fifth in the LSC in scoring, third in rebounding, and second in shooting; she has recorded nine games of 20 points or more and has failed to score in double-digits in just five of CU's 26 contests.
- Just a freshman, Jamie Bonnarens has stepped up for the Aggies and is ranked eighth in the conference in scoring and seventh in field goal percentage; she scored a CU season-high 32 points against UT Permian Basin back on February 11.
- The senior guard trio of Charron Montgomery, Hill, and Cristina Soriano has been a pain for the opposition on both sides of the ball this season, as all three are ranked in the top-10 in the LSC in assists and the top-21 in steals.

In the LSC Tournament:
The Aggies are 1-11 all time in the LSC Tournament, but have qualified the past three seasons. Their won conference tournament win came against Texas A&M-Kingsville in 2002 when they won 60-51. Last year CU was knocked out in the first round by Texas Woman's in a 78-75 contest. Cameron has faced ASU three times in the conference tournament will all three resulting in Aggie loses.
2001     Angelo State 57, Cameron 55
2004     Angelo State 86, Cameron 76
2012     Angelo State 61, Cameron 57

The Aggies lost a heartbreaker against the then no. 4 Rambelles at home 79-76, but then fell in a lopsided loss in San Angelo, 90-72 in their most recent meeting. Cu got outscored 27-16 in the first quarter and 22-17 in the fourth, while shooting just 34.2 percent from the field and 24.1 percent from three-point range. Against the bracket:
Cameron faces a tough road, should they make it out of the first round. Against their side of the bracket, which included ASU, TWU, and West Texas A&M, CU is 0-6 this season. Against the other side of the bracket that includes A&M-Kingsville, ENMU, Tarleton State, and A&M-Commerce, Cameron is 3-5, but would not play any of those teams until the final.
