SILVER CITY, N.M. – The Cameron University tennis teams gathered a pair of victories at Western New Mexico on Friday as the No. 24 women's team won 7-2, and the No. 25 men's team edged out a narrow 5-4 victory over the No. 26 Mustang men.

The Aggie women's team started out first in doubles besting the Mustangs 2-1. In the top spot, the pairing of No. 24 Zhenia Shviadok/Mathilde Thibaudat defeated their opponents is a close 9-8 margin. While in the No. 2 pairing, Paula Gutierrez and Samantha Wood prevented a tiebreak with a 9-7 win. CU's lone doubles loss came in the No. 3 slot.

The Aggies would go onto dominate in singles, dropping just one contest in the sixth spot, while winning the first four matches to clinch the victory. The women's team is now 12-10 and 3-1 in the Lone Star Conference. The Mustangs are 3-16 and 0-4 in the league.

On the men's side, the Aggies rallied for a close regional and conference win over the Mustangs. Despite dropping doubles 2-1, Cameron won their next four singles matches for the clinched victory.

Bruno Babic and Keiran President won the lone doubles match for CU, and their victory was added to by the first, third fourth and fifth singles matches. In the No. 5 spot, Julen Gutierrez match was the only to go to three sets, as he took the first 6-2, but was swept in the second 0-6. He rallied back for a 6-4 third set win.

The Cameron men are 13-10 and 2-0 in the LSC, while WNMU is 12-7 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Both Aggie teams will close out the regular season on Saturday at UT Permian Basin.
