LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron baseball team concluded their series with Eastern New Mexico by splitting their double header on Monday. The Aggies took game one 3-0 but fell 10-5 in the nightcap.
Game one of the double header and game three of the series picked back up Monday after being postponed on Saturday due to weather. The Aggies had a 1-0 first inning lead from Saturday's start after
Cody Knight doubled to left field scoring a run.
In the third inning
Cody Bower hit a one run double and in the fourth
Tom McGarry scored another on a single.
Blake Welch (2-0) pitched a seven innings in the win, allowing just two hits and struck out six Greyhounds.
During the nightcap, CU went up 2-0 in the second inning as McGarry singled and in the next frame
Cole Williams had a sac bunt for another run. But in the fourth inning, ENMU tied it up with a two run single.
The Aggies took back a two run lead in the fifth as
Victor DeJesus hit an RBI triple and
Cody Bower a sacrifice fly.
The seventh inning proved to be the Aggies' undoing as prior to that they held the Greyhounds to just two hits, but committed two errors in that frame. ENMU scored five runs on two errors and one hit, then scored three more in the eighth to make it a 10-4 contest.
The Aggies had just one more run in them scoring an eighth inning fielders choice but left two on base and in the ninth went down on a strikeout and double play.
Andrew Garza (3-2) was charged with the loss after giving up three runs, only one earned, in the seventh inning.
Cameron is now 20-13, and ENMU is 24-10. Monday's double header did not count as a conference games.
