Aggies wrap up home stand against TWU

Starting 5: 
1. Cameron has held their opponents to under 60 points in their last three games; they are 4-3 on the season when holding the opposition under 60.
2. After scoring 26 points against Midwestern State on Tuesday night, Jamie Bonnarens has taken sole possession of the top spot in the LSC scoring race as she now averages 17.5 points per game. 
3.  Amaka Nwakamma was almost halfway to a quadruple-double against MSU, recording 11 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and five steals in the winning effort. 
4. TWU's Bri'anna Gray had a career high 21 points in their 79-65 loss to Midwestern State on Thursday night.
5. Alexis Nezianya leads TWU and ranks in the top-10 in the LSC in scoring, rebounding, and blocks. 

About the Aggies: 
Cameron has now won two straight after taking down Midwestern State their last time out. They are now 7-10 overall while holding a 5-4 LSC mark, which has them in a tie for fifth place in the league standings. 
The Aggies sit in the middle of the pack when it comes to offensive production in the LSC, ranking fifth with 65.9 points per game. They are also first in the league in three pointers made per contest (7.2) and are one of the top rebounding teams in the conference, grabbing 44.1 boards per outing, which is third best in the LSC. 

Jamie Bonnarens' 17.5 points per game is tops in the conference and in the top-60 in the nation while her average of 7.6 rebounds is sixth best in the LSC. The sophomore has scored 13 or more points in her last five games and now has eight games of 20 or more points this season. Lejha Smith leads Cameron and the league with 10.5 rebounds per game, which ranks 17th in all of Division II. She also is second in the LSC with 1.9 blocks per game. Additionally, Amaka Nwakamma and Bonnarens are tied for fourth in the conference with an average of 2.9 assists and Nwakamma is second in the LSC with 39 total steals. Ava Battese is second on the team with 11.3 points per game and has hit two or more three pointers in all but two games this season.

Scouting the Pioneers: 
Texas Woman's has just one win out of their last six contests after falling to Midwestern State in their last contest. Against MSU, TWU shot under 39 percent from the field while going just 3-16 from three point range and 10-19 from the free throw line. They turned the ball over 22 times, but recorded 10 blocks on the defensive side of the ball. Bri'anna Gray led the Pioneers with 21 points and 10 rebounds as Whitney Apari had 10 points and Alexis Nezianya recorded eight points, six rebounds, and six blocks. 

Nezianya leads TWU with 12 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest, while also recorded a team best 21 blocks and 16 steals on the season. Gray is second on the team with 9.7 points per contest and KJ Stastny averages 9.0 while leading the team with 2.5 assists per game.

Last time vs. TWU: 
In the regular season finale a year ago, Cameron gave up 103 points in the loss to TWU at home. The Black and Gold led early, outscoring their opponent 33-13 in the first quarter, but TWU responded with a 66-30 second half to earn the win. The Pioneers shot lights out against CU, shooting nearly 60 percent from the field while going 7-13 from three and getting to the charity stripe 27 times. While the top scorers of that game from each team are no longer on the rosters, Texas Woman's got a 16 point, five block effort from Alexis Nezianya and Ava Battese had 17 points on 5-12 from the perimeter for CU.  

The Series:
- The series is tied at 23-23. 
- Cameron had won four straight in the series before falling in the past three matchups against the Pioneers.
- Last Meeting: February 23, 2017 in Lawton, Okla. (103-90 TWU win).

Looking back:
Tuesday against Midwestern State, the Aggies overcame a seven point halftime deficit to outscore their rival 47-23 in the second half to notch the 73-56 win. CU forced 18 MSU turnovers while recording 11 steals, and held the Mustangs to shooting under 40 percent from the field and just 2-12 from the perimeter. Jamie Bonnarens led the Ags with 26 points, 16 in the second half, while grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out four helpers. Additionally, Ava Battese went for 15 points for CU, while Parfit McNair had 12 points, six rebounds, and six assists and Amaka Nwakamma had 11 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and five steals.

Looking ahead:
Cameron will be back on the road next week, as they travel to Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce for rematches of games played at the Aggie Gym earlier this season. They face TSU on Jan. 25 starting at 5:30 p.m. while they visit the Lions on Jan. 27 at 2 p.m.
