Women's basketball kicks off home stand with ASU and TAMUK

Starting 5: 
1. Jamie Bonnarens matched a career high with 32 points against TAMUC and nearly averaged a triple-double with an average of 22.0 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists during CU's last two games. 
2. Lejha Smith is ranked in the top-20 in the nation in rebounding and has a total of seven double-doubles and 12 double-digit rebound games. 
3. Ava Battese is fifth in all of Division II in three pointers attempted while ranking 17th in three pointers made and 14th in threes made per game. 
4. Angelo State's De'Anira Moore is first in the Lone Star in blocks and offensive rebounds.
5. Angelica Wilson for the Javelinas is tops in the conference with eight double-doubles on the season; she averages 9.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. 

About the Aggies: 
Cameron is 3-2 in their last five contests as they took down Texas A&M-Commerce last time out, 94-87. They are now 8-12 overall and 6-6 in league play while owning a 4-5 record at the Aggie Gym this season. CU is scoring almost 68 points per game and shooting 38 percent from the field and 31.2 percent from the perimeter. They are led by Jamie Bonnarens, who leads the LSC in scoring with 18 points per outing, and Lejha Smith, who is the league leader in rebounding with 10.3 per game. Additionally, the Aggies rank first in the conference in three point field goals made and attempted, led by Ava Battese's three made three pointers per contest. 

Scouting the Rambelles: 
Angelo State is on a six game winning streak and are sitting at 14-4 overall and 9-3 in conference play, which has them in second place in the LSC standings. They are first in the conference with 72.5 points per game and first in blocks with 4.8 rejections per contest. Five Rambelles are averaging in double-figures, with Marquita Daniels, De'Anira Moore, and Dezirae Hampton all averaging over 12 points and Ekiya Gray and Madi Greenwood averaging over 11 per game. Moore is 17th in the nation in blocked shots and fourth in offensive rebounds, while Daniels is fourth in DII with 3.6 steals per game. 

Last time vs. ASU: 
The Aggies fell to Angelo State earlier this season, 84-70, as they were outscored in every quarter except the third. CU shot over 47 percent from three point land, but made just six of their 10 free throw attempts, compared to ASU's 17-23 from the line. Parfitt McNair scored a career high 24 points while going 9-12 from the floor for CU, as Jamie Bonnarens chipped in 17 points and Ava Battese had 15. The Rambelles had four players reach double-figures in the contest with Marquita Daniels dropping 24 points and De'Anira Moore scoring 21. 

The series:
- Angelo State leads 29-21. 
- Cameron owns a 12-11 mark against ASU at the Aggie Gym, but has lost five in a row to the Rambelles.

Scouting the Javelinas: 
Texas A&M-Kingsville took down Texas Woman's 66-59 in overtime their last out to notch their third LSC win. They are now 6-14 overall this season and 3-9 in league play. When they visit the Aggie Gym they will be bringing in a 3-9 road record and the conference's lowest scoring offense, as they average just 52.6 points per contest. TAMUK shoots 32.8 percent from the floor, 23.4 percent from the perimeter, and 65 percent from the free throw line. What they lack on offense, they make up for in defense, holding their opponents to just 60.7 points per game and 35.7 percent shooting from the floor. Angelica Wilson leads the team with 9.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per contest while shooting 47.4 percent from the field. 

Last time vs. TAMUK: 
Cameron put together one of their best defensive games last time out against TAMUK. CU held the opposition to just six points in both the first and second quarters, while winning 51-39. The Aggies held the Javelinas to under 26 percent shooting while forcing them to go 3-19 from the field. Neither team got into foul trouble as the two teams combined for just 11 free throw attempts. Jamie Bonnarens, Parfitt McNair, and Amaka Nwakamma all had 11 points, while Bonnarens had a double-double with 10 rebounds. Angelica Wilson led Texas A&M-Kingsville with a double-double of her own, 12 points and 11 rebounds. 

The series:
- The series is tied at 19 wins a piece. 
- CU has won eight of the last 10 meetings, including the last four at home. 
- Last Meeting: December 7, 2017 in Kingsville, Texas (51-39 CU win).

Looking back:
Cameron is coming off of a strong week where they split a pair of contests against Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce. Against the TexAnns, the Ags led by 12 at the half, but then were outscored 51-34 in during the final 20 minutes to fall by five points. Parfitt McNair led CU with 20 points, while Mackenzie Hailey had a 25 point, 10 rebound double-double for TSU. Cameron responded by recording their best shooting night of the year against the Lions as they won 94-87. Jamie Bonnarens matched a career high with 32 points, and chipped in 12 rebounds and seven assists. McNair also had a big game, scoring 19 points, while Ava Battese had 16 and Lejha Smith had a double-double. The Black and Gold shot over 53 percent from the field and hit 14 of 26 shots from beyond the three point arc. TAMUC was led by Princess Davis, who had 31 points, and Brianna Wise, who had 25 points.

Looking ahead:
The Aggies have two more home contest before finishing the regular season with a four game road stretch. They host West Texas A&M on Thursday, Feb. 8 and then UT Permian Basin visits the Aggie Gym for homecoming at CU, Saturday, Feb. 10.
