CU athletics in action during Spring Break

LAWTON, Okla. – Cameron University's spring sports will be in full swing this week as the campus in on Spring Break along with the rest of Oklahoma's schools.

The week will begin Wednesday, March 20, with a softball doubleheader against Southwestern Oklahoma State beginning at 1 p.m. at McMahon Field. The Aggies enter the non-conference contests with a 17-9 overall record and are coming off of a 2-1 series loss to Midwestern State last weekend. On the other side of things, the Bulldogs have had a slow start to the season, going just 1-23 in their first 24 contests. Most recently, they were swept by No. 8 Southern Arkansas in four games last weekend.

Cameron's women's and men's tennis teams will also be in action this week, visiting Emporia State on March 21, Northwest Missouri State on March 23, and Drury on March 24. The Aggie women enter the week with a 6-4 record and are on a three match win streak, beating Southeastern Oklahoma State, Oklahoma Baptist, and St. Edward's all last week. Their toughest opponent this week will be No. 10 Drury, who is 9-0 this season. On the men's side, CU is 3-8 and on a six match losing streak. They have to face to ranked opponents in No. 16 Northwest Missouri State and No. 12 Drury.

The Aggie baseball team is set to host Lone Star Conference reigning champions Angelo State for their first four game league series of the season, March 23-25. CU's series against the Rams will begin with a single, nine inning game beginning at 3 p.m., will continue on Saturday with a pair of seven inning contests beginning at 1 p.m., and the finale will be a nine inning game on Sunday, beginning at 1 p.m. Cameron is 10-13 on the season and is coming off of a 3-1 series loss to No. 16 Texas A&M-Kingsville. Angelo State is now 19-7 this season after splitting a four game series against West Texas A&M last weekend. Before the battle with the Buffs, ASU won four straight with series sweeps against UT Permian Basin and Eastern New Mexico. Freshman Trent Baker is the reigning LSC Pitcher of the Week, striking out seven batters while allowing just two hits in a six inning start against WT.

There will be plenty of ways to follow Cameron sports this week. The Oklahoma Sports Network will be streaming Wednesday's softball doubleheader and the final three games of the CU baseball series. Additionally, all of the baseball and softball games will have live stats available, which can be followed via the Cameron Aggies Gameday App. All contests will be recapped and released on Cameron Athletics website, cameronaggies.com.
