LAWTON, Okla. – The Aggie softball team hopes to continue their three game win streak as they visit Texas A&M-Kingsville for a trio of games this week, March 29-30.
The Series:
Cameron and the Javelinas will begin the Lone Star Conference series with a twin-bill on Thursday, March 29, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The two teams will conclude the stretch in Kingsville on Friday as they play a single, seven inning game at 1 p.m.
About the Aggies:
The Aggies, who are now 19-9, have not played a LSC contest in two weeks. They are 9-6 in league play and are coming off of a doubleheader sweep off Southwestern Oklahoma State. Against the Bulldogs, CU bounced back from a 4-0 first inning deficit to win game one 12-4 in five innings, and then followed that up with a 15-0 five inning victory in game two. They have gone 1-2 in their last three conference series.
After the offensive explosion against the Bulldogs, the Aggies now have five players batting over .300 and are hitting .283 as a team.
Kaitlyn Alvarado leads the team with a .385 average, while
Brenna Busby is tops on the team with 28 hits, eight homers and 27 runs scored. Additionally,
Annie Combs and
Madyson Marvulli are both hitting over .300 and have 21 and 20 RBI respectively, as
Makaylah Ramirez is batting .304 with 18 RBI.
In the circle, Cameron owns a 2.57 team ERA with
Rylee Willmon leading the way with a 2.27 ERA in 95.2 innings of work, while
Bethany Hines has a 2.81 ERA in 79.2 innings. Willmon is 10-5 with 61 Ks, and Hines is 8-4 with 68 strikeouts.
Across the Diamond:
Texas A&M-Kingsville is 17-18 on the season and 7-11 in conference play. They have lost six straight LSC contests after being swept in a pair of three game series by Tarleton State and No. 9 Texas A&M-Commerce.
The Javelinas are batting .260 as a team with 136 runs scored and 64 extra base hits. Loren Kelly leads the team with a .347 batting average, 42 hits, and 17 stolen bases, while Roxy Chapa is hitting .324 with seven homers and 24 RBI.
TAMUK has a team ERA of2.95 with 185 total strikeouts in 235 innings of work. They have two workhorses in the circle as Sarah Gilbert has a 2.43 ERA and 86 Ks in 112.1 innings, while Breanna Smith has a 3.13 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 109.2 innings of work.

Following their trip down to the coast, Cameron will return home for another busy week of action. The Aggies will host Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday, April3, for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. before welcoming in Eastern New Mexico for a three game LSC series, April 6-7.
