LAWTON, Okla. – After winning two out of three games against top-10 ranked West Texas A&M, the Aggie softball team heads to Western New Mexico, March 29-30, in search of three more wins.

About the Aggies:
With their 2-1 series win over WT last week, the Cameron softball team is now 21-11 on the season and 8-7 in Lone Star Conference play. They have also won seven of their last eight games and are 6-5 at home in 2019. Against the Lady Buffs, CU opened the series with an 8-0 run-rule win in game one and a 2-1 win in game two, before falling in the finale 6-5, despite a five RBI day from
Abbey Warren.
Cameron enters the series against WNMU with a .307 batting average, having scored 180 runs and recorded 69 extra-base hits, including 28 homers. Five CU hitters are batting over .330, led by
Brenna Busby with a .378 average. She also leads CU with 37 hits, 36 runs scored, nine homers, 26 RBI, and 17 RBI. Freshman Khamri Edwards and
Breley Webb are second and third on the team in hitting, as Edwards owns a .367 average and is 16-16 on the base-paths while Webb is batting .362 with 23 RBI and 19 runs scored. Additionally,
Raley Long is hitting .333 and
Callie Busby is batting .330 and is tied for second on the team with four home runs.
As a staff, the CU hurlers own a 2.85 ERA with 165 combined strikeouts in 206.0 innings in the circle. Webb leads the team with a 1.91 ERA and has 50 K's in 51.1 inning of work.
Rylee Willmon has a 2.64 ERA with 37 K's in 61 innings, while
Bethany Hines leads the team with eight wins and 57 punch-outs in 69 innings in the circle.
Scouting the Mustangs:
Western New Mexico is 4-21 on the year and 3-12 in league play after getting swept in a three game series against Texas A&M-Commerce. They gave up 49 runs to the ranked Lions, 25 of which game in the fourth inning alone. The last time WNMU was at home, they went 2-1 against UT Permian Basin and are 3-3 at home this season.
As a team, the Mustangs are hitting .250 with 105 runs scored and 47 extra-base hits. Three hitters are batting over .300, led by Arian Maldanado, who is hitting .355 with 21 runs scored, five homers, and 18 RBI. Alicia Habitzreuther is hitting .327 with 14 runs scored, six homers, and 21 RBI, while Marina Garcia owns a .313 batting average with five homers and 11 RBI.
WNMU struggles in the circle, combining for a 11.30 ERA with just 40 strikeouts in 140 innings. Julia Vega is 3-7 with a 9.27 ERA and 22 K's in 65.2 innings pitched, while Jaylin McClain is 1-9 with a 12.74 ERA and 14 punch-outs in 50 innings of work.

The Aggies will return to McMahon Field next weekend as they host another top-25 ranked opponent in No. 24 Angelo State, April 5-6.
