About the Aggies:
The Aggies enter the weekend with a 13-8 record and a 2-4 mark in the conference. They are coming off a 2-1 record at the weather-shortened Missouri Southern TMZ Tournament last Friday. Cameron opened the tripleheader with a 9-3 win over Northwest Missouri State before falling to Missouri Western 2-4 in the second game of the day. CU bounced back by holding on for a 2-1 win over Northeastern State to sweep the two-game season series against the Riverhawks.

Cameron is led at the plate by standout freshman Khmari Edwards, who is hitting .400 and has scored 17 runs so far this season with 14 driven in. All-LSC shortstop Brenna Busby is currently batting .338 with a team-leading 19 RBI and 22 runs scored. Additionally, both Kaylyn Smith and Alyssa Osterdock are hitting over .300, while four other Aggies are knocking on the door with averages of .270 of higher. As a team, CU is batting .289 with 110 runs scored and 42 extra-base hits, 12 of which are dingers. They are also 38-49 in stolen base attempts, led by B. Busby with 10 and Edwards with eight.

In the circle, the Black and Gold have a trio of hurlers with ERA's under 2.70, while the staff as a whole has a 2.88 ERA with a combined 97 strikeouts in 136.0 innings of work. Freshman Breley Webb leads the way, posting a 2.23 ERA with 22 K's in 22 innings pitched. Webb is 2-0 on the season, while Rylee Willmon is 4-2 and Bethany Hines is 5-4. Willmon owns a 2.51 ERA, and Hines has a team-high 38 strikeouts in 53.1 innings in the circle.

Scouting the Javelinas:
The Texas A&M-Kingsville enters the weekend an astounding 20-3 on the season and 7-2 against league opponents. Last weekend, TAMUK swept the number two ranked Texas A&M Commerce Lions in a three game set and then on Tuesday of this week, split a doubleheader against Saint Mary's.

Amber Reyes has played in all 23 games and turns in a .367 batting average good enough for the team high. Reyes has two extra base hits, 16 runs scored and nine runs driven in. Senior backstop Roxy Chapa leads Texas A&M Kingsville in home runs with five and has driven in 25 runs. Chapa posts an over .600 slugging percentage with ten extra base hits. Victoria Saborio-Schoonard leads the team in on base percentage (minimum 12 at bats) getting on base at a .426 clip. Sophomore outfielder, Loren Kelly has been on a tear on the basepaths, with 20 stolen bases on 21 attempts. She was recently named the LSC Offensive Player of the Week after her performance against the Lions.

In the circle, Texas A&M Kingsville turns to Saidi Castillo, as the freshman pitcher has already tossed a team high 79 innings this season. Castillo posts a 1.59 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, and a 12-1 record. She has gone the distance in nine of her ten starts. The freshman sensation has punched out a team high 98 batters already and has appeared in 16 games total and earned two saves out of the bullpen to go with her already stellar pitching resume. Castillo was named the LSC Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday for the second time this season after the Javelinas upset sweep of TAMUC. As a team, the entire Texas A&M Kingsville pitching staff holds a sub two team ERA (1.83) a .209 batting average against, and six team shutouts, so runs will be at a premium for the Aggies this weekend.

On Deck:
Next weekend, the Aggies softball team will head west to face Eastern New Mexico for a three game set, March 15-16. They will then return home for a doubleheader on March 18 against Northwestern Oklahoma State and then host No. 9 West Texas A&M that weekend, March 22-23.
