LAWTON – After winning their second straight game on Tuesday, the Cameron women's basketball team is set for their first Lone Star Conference North Division contests against Oklahoma Christian.

STARTING 5:
1. After over three weeks away from competition, the Aggie women were able to makeup a postponed game against UT Permian Basin on Tuesday, and recorded a 65-56 win to move to 2-1 on the season.
2. In the game against UTPB, Maighan Hedge recorded her 25th career game with 20 or more points and now ranks second in the Lone Star Conference and 16th in NCAA Division II with her 21.3 points per game.
3. Stephanie Peterson notched her second career double-double and flirted with a triple-double against the Falcons, scoring 12 points while grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out five assists for the Aggies.
4. Oklahoma Christian has not played a game against outside competition since Dec. 11-12 when they went 1-1 against Texas A&M International; three of their scheduled games (one against Lubbock Christian and two against Angelo State) were postponed due to COVID-19 concerns.
5. Oklahoma Christian is led by long-time head coach Stephanie Findley, who has amassed a 632 wins compared to 456 losses over her 36 year career coaching the Lady Eagles.

LAST TIME OUT:
After being out of action for over three weeks, the Aggies were able to makeup a postponed matchup against UT Permian Basin on Tuesday. A rough second quarter put CU on the wrong side of a five point deficit at halftime, but a 24-10 third allowed the Aggies to cruise to a 65-56 win. Hedge recorded her 25th career game with 20-plus points, scoring 25 in the win with five trey balls. Peterson had a good all around game, notching 12 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists in the win.

ABOUT THE AGGIES:
Now 2-1 on the young season, Cameron is averaging 70.3 points while shooting just over 40 percent from the field. A strength for the Aggies has been their ability to get to the foul line as they are averaged 17.0 made foul shots per outing at a 81 percent clip, which leads the conference. CU has also excelled on the boards, grabbing 42.7 rebounds per outing, good for a margin of 4.0 over their opposition. The turnover battle has not been in favor of the Black and Gold, as they are giving it away 19.3 times per game, but they haven't hurt them substantially as the opposition is scoring an average of 17 points off those CU turnovers. Hedge ranks second in the conference and leads the team with her 21.3 points to go along with 6.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.3 steals per outing. Additionally, four others are averaging over eight points for CU, including Jazmin Luster who scores 8.0 points and grabs 6.0 rebounds per contest.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES:
Like Cameron, OC has had a trio of games postponed this season due to COVID-19 protocols, and they have not seen action since Dec. 11-12 when they played Texas A&M International. Against the Dustdevils, the Eagles lost the opener 57-51 but then bounced back for an 85-67 win in the series finale. They shot 43.5 percent from the field for the series while making their eight three pointers per game at a 40 percent clip. Turnovers were a big factor in the series as OC averaged 22.5 giveaways and the Dustdevils averaged 26.5. The Eagles also averaged 14 steals on the defensive end which helped record a 26.0 points off turnovers average. Maddison Collyer Ingraham leads the team with 15.0 points and 6.5 assists per game after a 23 point, eight assist outing in the win over TAMUI. Junior Kendall Blackburn also had a strong weekend, averaging 10 points and four rebounds while shooting over 66 percent from the floor.

AGAINST OC:
While Oklahoma Christian owns the overall series lead against the Aggies, Cameron has controlled the recent history, winning six of the last 10 including the two meetings last season. In the opening game of last year's series, CU trailed by four at the half but used a big third quarter to secure the 79-71 win. Peterson led the Black and Gold with 18 points, while four others scored in double-figures and the team made 24 free throws in the win. Later in the year the Aggies trailed again heading into the break, but then outscored the Eagles 50-28 in the second 20 minutes of action. Hedge went for 27 points for CU, going 8-18 from the field and 9-11 from the charity stripe.

WHO HAS NEXT:
Next week the Aggies are schedule to play Western New Mexico, who opted out of the conference schedule this season, in a pair of non-conference contests. The games against the Mustangs will be on Thursday, Jan. 14 and Friday, Jan. 15 with both starting at 5 p.m. in the Aggie Gym.
