LAWTON – The Cameron University volleyball team is back in the Aggie gym on Tuesday and Wednesday for a pair of Lone Star Conference matches against UAFS.
The Aggies have split both of their first two series of the spring season, winning the second game against both Oklahoma Christian and Midwestern State.
CU was set to travel to Fort Smith to take on the Lions last week to wrap up the first half of the schedule, but those matches were postponed to March 16 and 17 due to the winter weather that hit the surrounding area.
In their first four games, the Black and Gold have averaged just over 10 kills per set while hitting .134 on the attack. They average just 0.7 aces per set, but have notched 2.5 blocks per frame, which is second best in the LSC.

Walia Franklin averages 3.03 points per set with 40 kills, while
Arianna Navarrete has 37 kills for CU.
Desiree Marmolejo has stepped up as a senior setter, averaging 5.47 per set, while freshman
Katie Roberson averages 3.47. Â Navarrete and Carter both average over 2.5 digs per set, while
Sam Friedl averages 4.44 in her nine sets played and freshman
Presley Shearin has averaged 3.78 digs in her nine sets of action.
Cameron's block party is led by
Caitlyn Henderson, who ranks second in the LSC with her 1.42 rejections per frame.
JaLisa Hollingshed leads CU with 18.0 total blocks, while Henderson has 17.0 and three other Aggies have 10 or more.
UAFS has started the season with a 3-1 record, splitting a pair of five-set matches with MSU before sweeping OC two weeks ago. They hit .264 on the attack with 11.6 kills per set, while recording 30 aces and 34.0 blocks over the first four matches.
The Lions have four players with over 20 kills on the season, led by Julia McCown with 44. Courtney Crownover averages 2.24 kills, 3.00 digs, and 3.82 assists per set, while Hannah Holland leads the defensive efforts with 20 total blocks this year.
Both matches will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Aggie Gym. Cameron has limited attendance to pass list only for 2021 home volleyball matches, but all matches will be streamed on the LSC Digital Network.
