CU set for long road trip to face the Mustangs

LAWTON – The Cameron women's basketball team plays their final road game of the regular season on Saturday when they visit Western New Mexico.

The Aggies look to get back on track as they visit the Mustangs for a rematch of a non-conference game played back in December that the Aggies won by 25 in the Aggie Gym. The long trip to Silver City, N.M. is the last road game on the regular season schedule for the Black and Gold. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. (CT) at Drag's Court.

STARTING 5
1. Now 8-4 in Lone Star Conference play, the Aggies are sitting in eighth place in the league standings just a week from the start of the conference tournament; the top-12 teams make the postseason with the top-4 teams getting a first round bye and the 5-8 teams hosting a first round game.
2. CU's Maighan Hedge was recently named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for the second season; the fourth-year guard continues to lead the LSC with 21.2 points per game, scoring 20-plus points 13 times and double-figures in every game this season.
3. Despite still leading the LSC and all of Division II with 10.2 made three-pointers per game, the Aggies have made just eight triples in the last two games combined, shooting 22.2 percent from deep over that span.
4. After their 70-53 loss to West Texas A&M on Thursday, Western New Mexico has lost three straight and is just 1-10 since the start of Lone Star Conference play.
5. The Mustangs are 21st in Division II, averaging 4.7 blocked shots per game led by Olivia Lee with 1.2 and Destiney Johnson with 1.1 rejections per outing; they are also 14th in the nation with a .250 opponents' three-point percentage.

ABOUT THE AGGIES
Cameron's toughest stretch of the season ended on Tuesday with a 10-point loss to West Texas A&M, making them 13-9 overall and 8-4 in league play. They are still averaging almost 77 points per game while shooting 41 percent from the field, 34.4 percent from three, and 75.5 percent from the charity stripe. Despite giving up 71 points per game, the Aggies turn teams over 21 times per outing, with 12 coming on steals, resulting in 21 points off turnovers.

Hedge leads the team in scoring (21.2) and assists (3.5), while also averaging 3.4 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game. Stephanie Peterson adds 13.9 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.7 steals per game. Additionally, Katie King leads the team with 2.9 steals on average to go along with 9.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per outing.

SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
