Cameron faces two nationally ranked opponents over three-game homestand

LAWTON – Cameron hosts three Lone Star Conference games in a five-day span featuring battles against No. 4/10 Texas A&M-Commerce and No. 13/15 Lubbock Christian.

The Aggie women's basketball team, who is currently at the top of the league standings, faces one of their toughest weeks of the season as they host the Lions on Tuesday, Eastern New Mexico on Thursday, and then the defending National Champion Lady Chaps on Saturday.

STARTING 5
1. Due to weather, Cameron's non-Lone Star Conference game against West Texas A&M was postponed last week, but since then CU has moved into sole possession of first place in the league standings with a 7-1 conference record.
2. The programs all-time leading scorer Maighan Hedge continued to lead the LSC and is third nationally with her 22.4 points per game, scoring over 20 points 12 times this season; she has also made at least three three-pointers over the last four five games.
3. A&M-Commerce is currently ranked in the top-10 in both national polls with an 18-2 record, scoring over 81 points per game and dominating teams on the glass and by getting to the free throw line.
4. In their first season under head coach Meghan De los Reyes, the Greyhounds are 8-9 overall and 4-7 in league play led by guards Natalie Stice and Iyanna McCurdy.
5. Lubbock Christian remains a DII powerhouse under Steve Gomez, in his 18th year as head coach, as they just recently broke the NCAA record for a home winning streak with their 100th straight win in the Rip Griffin Center; LCU is 7-3 on the road this season.

ABOUT THE AGGIES
A few missed shots prevented the Aggies from going 3-0 two weeks ago to remain undefeated in league play. They followed their four-point loss to TWU with a dominant win over MSU and another against St. Mary's to move to 12-6 on the season. The Aggies are averaging over 79 points per game with a scoring margin of 10.4. They are shooting 42 percent from the field, 35 percent from three, which the make 10.8 per outing, and 75 percent from the foul line. Rebounding is still a struggle for the Aggies, with a margin of -8.6, but their defensive pressure has increased, turning teams over 21.6 times per game with 12.8 coming on steals. Hedge leads the team and the LSC with her 22.4 points per game while also averaging 3.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.3 steals. Stephanie Peterson does it all for CU, averaging 13.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.8 steals. Korie Allensworth has picked up her offensive game, averaging 10.3 points for CU while Katie King gets it done on both ends of the floor, averaging 10.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 3.4 steals, which is second most in the LSC.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
A&M-Commerce has been close to perfect this season with their only losses coming against WT and UT Tyler. Currently on a five-game winning streak, they out-score teams by 16.4 points per game and are shooting over 42 percent and holding teams to around 38 percent. The Lions' strength is getting to the foul line, where they average 18.6 made free throws per game at a 73.5 percent clip. ENMU is a solid defensive team, holding opponents to shooting 39 percent from the field and 30 percent from three to the tune of 65.4 points. Like many teams in the LSC they like to pressure the ball, averaging 17.5 forced turnovers with 9.0 steals per game, but also give the ball away to the tune of 18.6 turnovers per contest. Stice averages 13.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.4 steals while McCurdy averages 12.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.7 steals for the Greyhounds.
