Softball closes out regular season with No. 15 OC

LAWTON – The Cameron softball team closes out the regular season by hosting another top-20 ranked opponent in No. 15 Oklahoma Christian on Saturday. 
 
The Aggies are locked into a Lone Star Conference Tournament spot as nine of the top-10 teams that will qualify for the league postseason have been decided. Now CU will try and pull out the upset of the Eagles to avoid going into the tournament on a 6-game losing streak as they went 0-4 last weekend against two other top-20 ranked opponents. 
 
Cameron enters the final weekend with a 25-21 overall record and a 13-15 conference mark, which has them in ninth place in the conference standings. They are also 12-6 at home as they get to close out their schedule at McMahon Field. 
 
At the plate, CU has a team average of .303 with 239 total runs scored and 116 extra-base hits, including 52 home runs. The power surge has been led by freshman catcher Kaiden Boren, who is slugging .796 with 12 homers and 38 RBI while hitting .357. Khmari Edwards leads the LSC with 49 runs scored and is batting .340 with nine homers and 28 stolen bases. 
 
Breley Webb has a team-high .404 average with 21 runs scored and 24 RBI while Josie Swafford is hitting .357 with 22 RBI this spring. The duo also leads the pitching staff. Webb has a 3.67 ERA with 89 K's in 108.2 innings while Swafford has a 3.28 ERA with 112 strikeouts in 94 innings of work. 
 
The Eagles also went 0-4 last weekend against No. 20 Texas A&M-Commerce and No. 1 UT Tyler and went from fighting for the top spot in the league standings to now in sixth place. They are still 36-12 overall this season and 20-8 in conference games; they are just 7-5 in true road games. 
 
OC's offense is stout, hitting .326 with 297 total runs scored. They get it done with speed, totaling 80 doubles, 31 triples, and 100 stolen bases. Aaaliyah Brown leads the way with a .465 average to go along with 11 doubles, five homers, and 40 RBI. Brooklyn Bain has a team-high 47 runs scored with 11 doubles and 32 RBI while Kylie Janzen hits .341 with seven homers and 42 RBI this spring. 
 
In the circle, Oklahoma Christian is just as strong, combining for a team-ERA of 2.24 and a .211 batting average against. Kali Crandall is 14-7 with a 2.46 ERA and 104 K's in 131 innings while Grace Anderson has gone 122 innings and has a .218 opponents' batting average.
 
The final LSC doubleheader of the regular season is scheduled for 1 p.m. at McMahon Field with both games also streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network.
