LAWTON – Cameron softball's
Khmari Edwards was named First Team Academic All-District® on Wednesday for her success both on and off the diamond this season for the Aggies.
A fourth-year infielder from Del City, Okla., Edwards has been a spark plug for the CU offense, hitting .344 with 54 hits, 50 runs scored, 11 doubles, 10 home runs, and 31 RBI this spring. She ranked second in the Lone Star Conference in runs scored and third in stolen bases with 30.
Edwards, who earned her Bachelor of Psychology at Cameron, now ranks eighth in program history with 201 hits, ninth with 133 RBI, fifth with 151 runs scored, sixth with 41 doubles, and second in stolen bases with 82.
Cameron now has two CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District® selections for the 2021-22 athletic season as Edwards joins women's basketball player Maighan Hedge as Aggies who have earned the honor.
The NCAA Division II-District 6 (made up of Lone Star and Rocky Mountain Athletic conference student-athletes) includes 12 selections, eight from the LSC and four from the RMAC. The full list is listed below.
The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Baseball and Softball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
