Cameron Closes Homestand with WT and LCU

LAWTON, Okla. – Cameron looks to close out the home swing on a high note, as they host West Texas A&M on Thursday and Lubbock Christian on Saturday. The Lady Buffs visit the Aggie Gym on Jan. 26 at 5:30 pm, before closing the homestand on Saturday, Jan. 28 against the Lady Chaps, for a 1:00 pm tip.
 
STARTING 5:
1. The Aggies dropped their second home game of the season to Arkansas Fort Smith 64-59. Korie Allensworth scored 17 points with five assists, three rebounds, and two steals.
 2. Korie Allensworth and Alena Wilson lead the team in scoring with 11.7 ppg and 11.4 ppg. They both rank in the top 20 scorers in the LSC, and Wilson's 7.5 rebounds per game are eighth in the league. Katie King ranks second in the LSC for steals (2.7) and has the fifth most assists (4.2) in conference play.
 3. WT beat No. 7/9 Texas Woman's and UT Tyler last week. Nyalam Thabach led the way for the Lady Buffs with a team-high 21 points to go along with six rebounds, one assist and one steal in the win over UTT. WT scores a league-best 70.4 points per game while allowing 59.6 ppg. They shoot 40.7 percent from the floor and 32.7 percent from three. Karley Motschenbacher is the leading scorer for the Lady Buffs with 12.7 ppg, and she grabs 6.7 rebounds a game.
4. LCU dropped both games last week. The Lady Chaps average 70.2 ppg while allowing 60.6 ppg. They shoot 43.4 percent from the floor and 34.5 percent from three. They allow their opponents to shoot 36.0 percent from the floor and 36.0 percent from beyond the arc. Grace Foster leads LCU with 14.7 ppg and 9.3 rebounds a game.
 5. In Jan. 26, 1924 The first Winter Olympics medal was awarded to American Skater Charles Jewtraw after skating 5,000 meters in just 44 seconds. 
 
LAST TIME OUT:
Cameron dropped their second home game of the season to Arkansas Fort Smith 64-59. Korie Allensworth scored 17 points with five assists, three rebounds, and two steals. The Aggies shot 35.1 percent from the floor, 29.2 percent from three, and made 12-of-20 free throws. Defensively CU would only allow UAFS to shoot 42.3 percent from the floor and 31.6 percent from long range while making 14-of-25 free throws. The Lions grabbed 10 more rebounds than CU, 42-to-32, but the Aggies forced 20 turnovers to their own 10.
 
ABOUT THE AGGIES:
CU is now 9-10, 6-7 LSC, 3-4 DIV., after going 1-1 last week, dropping their second game at home this season. The Aggies are averaging 62.4 points per game while surrendering 69.0 ppg. Cameron sits in the middle of the conference with a 5-4 record and ranks fourth in the West Division. Korie Allensworth and Alena Wilson lead the team in scoring with 11.7 ppg and 11.4 ppg. They both rank in the top 20 scorers in the LSC, and Wilson's 7.5 rebounds per game are eighth in the league. West Texas A&M is 15-5, 8-4 LSC, 5-1 DIV., on the season. Last week WT beat No. 7/9 Texas Woman's and UT Tyler. In the previous outing, Nyalam Thabach led the way for the Lady Buffs, as she went 7-of-10 from the floor, including 1-of-4 from deep and 6-of-6 from the free throw line for a team-high 21 points to go along with six rebounds, one assist and one steal. WT scores a league-best 70.4 points per game while allowing 59.6 ppg. They shoot 40.7 percent from the floor and 32.7 percent from three while allowing teams to shoot 36.8 percent from the floor and 29.2 percent from long range. Karley Motschenbacher is the leading scorer for the Lady Buffs with 12.7 ppg, and she grabs 6.7 rebounds a game.
 
LAST TIME AGAINST WT:
The Aggies fell to West Texas A&M 81-48 in Canyon, Texas. Katie King recorded a team-high 16 points, with three steams, two rebounds, and an assist. West Texas won the battle of the glass pulling down 43 rebounds to 34 for Cameron. The Aggies hit all five free throws, King shot 3-for-3 and Lay was 2-of-2. Karley Motschenbacher led the Lady Buffs with 16 points, while Lauren Taylor scored 12. CU made 19-of-62 shots from the floor for 30.6 percent while making 27.8 percent of shots from three. WT hit 47.6 percent of shots and 38.2 percent beyond the arc.
 
SCOUTING THE LADY CHAPS: 
Lubbock Christian comes into the weekend with a record of 13-7, 8-4 LSC, and 5-1 DIV after dropping both games last week. The Lady Chaps average 70.2 ppg while allowing 60.6 ppg. They shoot 43.4 percent from the floor and 34.5 percent from three. They allow their opponents to shoot 36.0 percent from the floor and 36.0 percent from beyond the arc. Grace Foster leads LCU with 14.7 ppg and 9.3 rebounds a game.
 
LAST TIME AGAINST LCU:
Cameron dropped the last matchup against Lubbock Christian 85-34. Kiara Lovings led the Black-and-Gold with 10 points, and Alannah Gillespie scored eight. Cameron shot a season-worst 25 percent from the field and 18.8 percent from three-point range in the game. LCU shot 47.0 percent from the floor and 38.9 percent from deep while scoring 36 points in the paint to the Aggies' 18. The Lady Chaps outrebounded CU 48-to-33. Rachel Haase led five in double-figures with 14 points.

Cameron travels from a two-game swing in New Mexico, facing Western New Mexico on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 5:30 MT, before facing Eastern New Mexico on Saturday at 1:00 pm MT.
