LAWTON, Okla. - Cameron University President Shane Hunt celebrates the beginning of the construction of a new turf softball field with Cameron Director of Athletics
Lou Izzi, Head Softball Coach
Bryan Howard, and the six seniors on this year's Cameron softball team.
Cameron is partnering with Mammoth Sports Construction from Meriden, Kansas to replace its natural grass playing surface with 45,640 square feet of synthetic turf. The project also includes the installation of padding along the dugout and backstop areas, new bullpens, a 30' wide Cameron logo in centerfield, and a 313' branded outfield fence. Cameron also has installed a new, state-of-the-art sound system for softball.
The project is expected to be completed before the start of the 2026 season. Cameron opens its season on January 31st against Washburn in The Lone Star Classic in Mansfield, Texas. The Aggies will play their home opener on their new turf field on February 11th when they host in-state rival Northwestern Oklahoma State.
