LAWTON, Ok — Cameron Athletics held their annual Athletics Awards Celebration to honor their athletes for the 2024-2025 season on May 5th.
All 14 athletic programs gathered at the McCasland Foundation Ballroom on Monday night accompanied by the prestigious guest of Cameron University President, Jari Askins. Athletic Director Lou Izzi, began the ceremony highlighting the accomplishments of the many teams across the department. A video presentation allowed the student-athletes to relive their most successful moments on the courts, fields and track.
Izzi gave way for Associate Professor Dr. Melissa Thacker to announce the athletics commissioner honor roll list from all 14 teams. Jaemyn Quinn, Head Coach of the Spirit Team, followed with her announcement of the Spirit Award to Sidney Fletcher. Next honor presented was the Iron Pick Axe that was given to softball for their achievements in the weight room.
From golf, Tyler Kaman was named Coach of the Year. He and the women's team were not present as they were in Amarillo, TX for the NCAA Division II West Regional Championship. Associate Athletic Director for Compliance Ashton Howard and Assistant Athletic Director for Administration Josh Cobble recognized the seniors and graduate assistants that contributed to the Aggies 2024-25 season.
The final awards of the night presented by Izzi were the rookie of the year, female and male athlete of the year honors. Haley Gardella from softball earned rookie of the year along with Kaiden Boren who won female athlete of the year. Kgaogelo Moloisi from track and field earned male athlete of the year. It was a successful night at the McCasland Foundation Ballroom with all programs being honored and recognized for their efforts in the classroom and on the court, field and track. With the exception of women's golf in the NCAA Division II West Regional Championship, the 2024-2025 Aggies athletics season has come to an end.
